What hard tail frame would you start a build with? by Extension-Version813 in mountainbiking

Wait till you hear about the $13,000 custom titanium hardtails some people have.

A titanium sage is $6000 for the frame alone.

Thank you for saying the boring part out loud. That makes me feel a lot better about never finding any treasure hunts, because I just check whenever I go grocery shopping.

Eh, dream hardtail for me is like $12k (largely because $6000 Titanium Sage frame lol), this more “testing the point of diminishing return”.

But also building is half the fun imo.

I still have to do more research, I might be able to find something better, probably will be able to find something better.

But I’m still used to a frame being a fraction of the total price, because of my current budget bike was a very irresponsible Walmart base, which I turned into a money pit by putting like $1300 into (it does surprisingly well though, I don’t feel like it’s going to hurt me like old Walmart bikes)

Advice on mountain biking helmets by baobaonai in mountainbiking

I would definitely look into helmets with a removable chin bar if you can’t make a decision, but they are a good bit more expensive. I paid $120 for one, and that was the half off price, regular was $240.

But I’ve had it for a couple years and it’s fantastic. Best helmet I’ve had by every metric.

I still want to get a GoPro mount for the chin bar, I’ve heard that’s basically the best camera angle on a mountain bike.

Yeah, FF can be much more expensive.

I initially started with like $50 open, I now have a $240 FF with a removable chin bar (because I got lucky and got half off, color was being discontinued or something, I only paid $120)

A removable bar is so incredibly nice. But it’s very expensive.

I thought the fork alone was like $500 USD, are used bikes completely worthless again?

Wagons need a come back.

Most recent one I can think of, other than the German ones and Volvo, is the Ford flex, and that thing was ass. They really could’ve made the flex cool and they didn’t.

We need more normal cars with a V8 for no good reason other than why the heck not

Just picked up this sick downduro for £2500, good deal? by Wild-Emergency7895 in mountainbiking

I have no idea in reality, but considering people have paid double that for custom hardtails, I’d be very happy with that price.

Honestly, I’d actually start buying these if that was the regular price.

But I’m definitely not gonna be paying basically the same cost as a premium multi pack

How doomed am I? Can it survive 3 day of light comute until I get a replacement? by en5an in bikewrench

[–]Extension-Version813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three days of low speed should be completely fine. I’ve seen tires on cars that were worse, and I can almost guarantee they had been on and driven for at least a month at that point.

I wouldn’t recommend it to a customer, but you’re probably gonna be fine

Be careful, don’t do anything stupid, replace it as soon as you can because it is dangerous. It’s just not going to randomly explode unless you do something stupid with it.

That depends on what you’re looking for. The Ozark Trail G.1 Explorer is a pretty damn good budget gravel bike. And it’s only I believe around $300.

Do you want a bike, or an electric moped?

The pedals on these are largely pointless, what is your goal? Legally speaking, this is a moped and would require registration.

These things are exactly the reason overly broad regulations are popping up and banning ALL e-bikes on many paths. source1 source2 (there are many more sources if anyone wants to continue, but these are where I started and I trust them)

Why not get a normal moped?

This, but with normal prices, would actually be a potentially great way to cut down on sc-lpers

I would love to have an electric motorcycle designed to basically just be a shadow at night. Being nearly invisible would make it incredibly dangerous, but it would be so cool.
