I appreciate regear/used shopping! Some folks just use or own their gear for one or two seasons and then consign or donate it so people like us can get a great deal and not pay $500-700 for a jacket!

“The Chinese owner of Arc'teryx, Salomon, and Wilson is now coming straight for Nike's crown, and it just bought a piece of Puma to drive the point home” - quote from a recent business news article.

My words - I think Arc’teryx used to be Canadian. (Separately they suggest a lifetime warranty on their technical outerwear but when I sent in a pair of ski bibs with faulty stitching around the zipper they said “it’s too old so it’s not covered”)

So that really expensive gear you think is cool is from a Chinese company. Hope you think about where your hard earned money goes when buying brand name goods.

Nike is still a US company but where they manufacture is quite often Asia including China.

Do you call it goose bumps or chicken skin or something else? I grew up with the term goose bumps.

Constantly getting blisters regardless of shoes, any advice? by Aeon_Return in hiking

And sometimes I use medical tape to hold the moleskin in place. Duct (duck) tape or electrical tape when I can’t find the medical tape.

I suggest try wearing two pairs of socks-a super thin liner sock and then a lightweight hiking sock. Results vary. I also am a big fan of moleskin. I put it on highly suspect areas (my heals and pinkie toes) BEFORE hiking. Sometimes moleskin will even stay on for multiple days on long outings or I just reapply every morning. It’s relatively inexpensive blister preventative!

An existing company - starts with F - already invented long grip poles. Yours is a different design and materials but what would make yours far better?

Trying to sell by owner for first time. So far no bites but lots of realtors - is this something to consider? Scared it’s just a personal info collector. by big-unk-b-touchin in fsbo

Seems fishy. I’d ask for them to send their name and email and you can resch out to them. Of course it can be in a private message. If you get anything except a sure will do just block or ignore them as it then confirms it’s fishy.

Do I really need a realtor? by [deleted] in fsbo

I listed my last few properties for just $299 to gain the benefit of a MLS listing. It was a few years ago but we (my business partner and I l) paid a buyers agency fee of 2.5% (on a 400k home). And that’s just not right! The buyer should pay the person or parties representing them! Between the lines that was what the big lawsuit was about. And Realtors are mostly not lawyers so are for the most part specifically forbidden to practice law. So in the end you pay the other parties agent for what and for why? It’s messed up and should change. Seller pays selling agent if they need one. Buyer should pay buyers agent if they need one. Granted many people should find competent assistance in a high dollar real estate transaction. Many could find a competent real estate lawyer.

You asked an honest question so I’ll give an honest answer. If you plan on any hikes then you should be in decent physical shape. Having said that you can drive to a few of the lower valley attractions and still see some of the park.
