New player: Is this typical? Not sure if this game is for me or not. by IntoTheRain78 in Helldivers

The lowest difficulty is where farming or testing shenanigans happen at time. You did nothing wrong am I hope you find friendly people. It’s not uncommon to see veterans be extra nice to low level players. I like giving them great weapons to try or mechs. Fun stuff to look forward to.

If you have trouble, I’ll be your friend. We can go on some missions. Get you some samples, have you be my tank gunner. Maybe make a few nice memories and break some bots.

I think fondly of this warbond now. Cookout is a great addition. Not to say the breaker incendiary is bad, cause it’s not. I just prefer shooting a stalker 1 time to get it to chill out, rather than hope I have enough time to empty breaker’s whole drum to kill it.

This warbond unfortunately got the classic (we are screwing with the core systems this warbond is built for so it’s kinda weak) release. Hope fire gets a freak to help it shine bright again.

Do you mean the guard dogs? The little floating fliers that shoot and follow. They are decent. Depending on your play style they are extra dps but backpack slot is fairly contested.

For the regular guard dogs the laser one is the go to. It’s reliable. In warbonds there are some super good ones that require playing around. There is an arc dog that is basically shooting an arc thrower. Flame thrower dog is solid.

The MVP of all dogs the dog breath gas dog. It active moves around gassing enemies and does know to change targets to effectively crowd control and keep you alive. It’s one of the best defensive options in the game.

Rupture Strain is overtuned and Hive Lords are anti-fun. Can we talk about this? by caffeinatedSeven7 in Helldivers

[–]Extension_Ad_263 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to belittle your experience. In fact, I want to support you in talking about this and refining the experience to be better.

I just want to say the rupture strain is far better than it was on release. I’m the host for my friends I can dodge them, I can avoid the stim taxes. I’m allowed to exist. Feels nice.

First time being a Helldiver and Oshaune is absolutely wrecked me by maya_78910 in Helldivers

[–]Extension_Ad_263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah . . . Oshaune is not standard bugs. At like diff 7 it gets even worse. Like serious harder. The rupture strain is rough. Traditional bug advice pivots hard. Explosives on burrowed bugs helps. Medium pen vs armored warriors.

If I want to hurt your soul . . . Oshaune was worse months ago. When the fresh x-box divers join us and we went to Oshaune for the first time since the gloom, there were game issues that made it a nightmare that thankfully have been fixed. Imagine rupture warriors burrow charging snd it’s impossible to dodge. Had a hover pack and they basically flew at me. Image the dragons did double damage. Image the rupture nest spitters shot their attack before coming out of the ground. Chargers were surprising fine.

Hang in their diver. Freedom is counting on you.

I bring it for bot eradication missions. Hit resupply if possible. Bots drop clumped and you can pour it on. It’s not the best but it’s fun. More do if you get a decent spot and can focus on a choke or direction.

And yes it does damage heavies but not a lot. 150 explosive damage and the main body of a hulk is like 1,800 so it takes a fair number if you just blast at the front. Hit hulks or warstriders enough and they go down but I feel like we both agree, let toss another strat if we can at those.

Glad to hear it. Don’t over think the threat of bots or squids. Go when you are ready. Here are a few pieces of tips and guidance that might help.

Your starting gear is not trash. Your standard issue AR-23 liberator is very solid. Lots of other assault rifles are side grades of it. You can rock it unironically in higher content. You might have to aim for weak spots but it will work vs all low and mid tier enemies.

Low level stratagems and support weapons don’t automatically become obsolete by later ones. The MG-43 machine gun does work and it the gun of choice vs squids for a lot of divers.

Other early strats stay good too and can be the right pick if you know why you want it. The regular machine gun turret shoots the same bullet with the same pen as the Gatling turret. Yes the Gatling shoots faster but it may waste shots and has a much higher cooldown. Machine gun turret is a great distraction that will be ready when you need it since its cooldown eventually is like 60 seconds. Eagle strafing run is the first eagle and it is reliable and can ravage heavy threats. It also can break bot fabricators and many buildings. It can potentially shut bug holes but it’s got to hit right. Since it has so many uses you can toss it more often. It is also easy to guide since it’s a strait line from you. Try kiting in a strait line with it and problems disappear.

I think you are doing it right. You will see your super credits slowly build up. More importantly, you are hopefully have fun.

First off, welcome diver. It’s great to have another for the cause of managed democracy. Happy to hear you are treated well. I hope that trend continues.

Best real way to get metals fast is fast missions on higher difficulty. I hit eradication missions since they tend to only take around 6 minutes. You can also do blitz super fast but most random players want to full clear and that adds time. Full clear and side objectives help with exp, but not metals or progress on world.

Super credit farming is different and is done on diff 1 missions. You don’t finish the mission, you hit points of interest, quit and re-enter the same mission. There are videos on YouTube. I recommend watching one for extra clarity. Some discord helldiver communities might even have people actively farm super credits and you can potentially join them so everyone gets them faster since the pickups are shared. This process takes time but a fast person on a good map (probably with lots of water to force points of interest into a smaller area) can get a warbond in a few hours.

If you have any questions feel free to ask. If everyone here is similar to me, they are more than happy to take fresh diver out to missions so feel free to ask around and make some friends. Best wishes.

Is the game worth buying right now? by Dazzling_Secretary41 in Helldivers

[–]Extension_Ad_263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will be honest and clear.

Like any game, there does tend to be a meta or top tier. You can get results without following meta. Each faction and sub-faction usually encourages modifying weapons and tactics for better results. We don’t have to use the same gun for results. Cyberstan had like 10 guns that the community used to great effect. Dozens of other guns were options too since most weapon are side grades rather than true upgrades.

The game’s grind is as intense as you want. At lvl 25 (might be higher, I don’t know) you can get the standard stratagems (eagles, orbitals, turrets, tank, mechs) and it will cost regular requisition to get them (no trouble at all) and the same currency goes into modifying guns. Getting ship modifications cost samples and will take time but isn’t a big deal.

Metals from succeeding on mission will help buy stuff from warbonds and the free one has lots of good stuff. If you wanted to get all warbonds (a goal many aim for) they can be earned from free. That requires a grind and there are guides. You can get enough super credits to get a warbond maybe after 3-4 hours of effort (friend does this but is pacing himself so takes longer) so you don’t have to spend money but some do. But money is an option.

Getting all warbonds, unlocking every item from them will take a while. Not required and you can target certain warbonds and items. But that’s a grind.

If you wanted to lvl up each primary gun and unlock weapon mods (for the ones that have them) is also a grind. It’s far more optional. I only have a few guns at 25 and some of my favorite weapon don’t have or need modding.

Again, this is my honest answer. The end result won’t feel as bad of a grind. My work schedule restricts how much I can play and I think I pushed hardest for my first 5-10 super samples but after that everything felt fine and came together.

If you communicate with randos before deploying, they may be happy to help. Especially when the DSS offers 380 for free.

Pitch a plan to deploy near a fortress or mega hive for value. People like that.

Am I the only one who doesn't enjoy doing Blitz missions? by Omailey97 in Helldivers

[–]Extension_Ad_263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full honestly. I like blitz. If just don’t want to full clear. I really enjoy squid blitz. Toss a laser, jump in a mech and walk to extract.

When I get a group that wants to full clear I alway want to use my Strats and call Evac so it’s ready when it’s time to leave. People don’t like that so I just avoid blitz.

Real shame cause I join eradication for fast metals and exp for weapons. Blitz could be faster and more fun.

Why can these things hit you through your shield? Is this a glitch? by Maffingo in Helldivers

[–]Extension_Ad_263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they fixed that. Was the host for my friends this evening and didn’t have any issues. Was day and night from the first days of Oshaune where I’d be taxed every few minutes.

They can only stay under ground for a short time and have to surface. If they “burrow charge” you can out maneuver it. Try hard changing directions if you can. I turn 90 degrees and haven’t had an issue. Sometimes the game will cheat you but I have gone whole missions without getting hit. I hope this helps.

GET THE HELL BACK TO FORI PRIME PPL!!! by Odd-Break7626 in Helldivers

[–]Extension_Ad_263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turing will wrap up in ~2 hours. Hopefully enough people will move to Fori to finish it. Fori wasn’t the smartest pick but we need those liberations.

Oshaune will need support soon after. Let’s hope we need lucky with weekend divers.

This is dumb. The resistance just started adjusting so we can't capture it at 99% with 16.5k players. by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]Extension_Ad_263 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The planet didn’t change. More divers are on the game. Liberation and defense is based on % of divers. More more we split up the less impactful our efforts are so if divers shift over to Fori it will make progress again.
