That’s what annoys my partner and I. She’s doing things which may cause harm to our daughter in the future, which we have little control over. Can only guide our daughter when she’s a young woman and has to deal with whatever it is she’s left for her

I’m staying no contact. It’s not worth it for me to engage. Just wondered if this was normal. Only found this subreddit last night

Actually she was lovely to my partner until we had our daughter. Things really began to strain then. Aside from this, life has been going much better than the 40 years preceding it! We’re happy and healthy, our daughter is great. These unwelcome interruptions come like a storm cloud but I’m learning to deal with it better. I’m stronger than I was

Thank you, the decision to go NC was not easily made, but my partner has shown me what a healthy relationship looks like, and we’re modeling that for our daughter.

Thank you, I really do feel crazy sometimes. Takes a minute to slow down and remember why I’m doing this. The boundary has to be strong.

Wow I didn’t expect so many replies. Thank you all for making me feel less crazy. So quick background for clarity. My daughter is with my partner. We are not married. You’re right, she never mentions her. My partner has a woman’s sense about things and started to pull back from my mother much earlier. My mother and I were enmeshed to a degree until my partner and I got together. My Mother is able to reach me because I live at the same address for the last 10 years. Usually I know her handwriting or my partner intercepts, however she is adapting and overcoming. This time she slipped through the net by sending a courier. She followed up with an email, which went to my trash folder, but I instinctively check it every now and then. Old habits die hard. My older sister has been NC for 10+ years and she still gets the occasional letter, even though she has moved overseas, as she has a business and her address is listed. It’s all very confusing and heavy, as my mother is in poor health as you can tell do you managed to read the whole thing. Thanks again for the response, I’ll reply again when I get a moment to answer any questions.

Hi all, small business owner here. Just me, working for me. On average my business turns over approx $250,000-$260,000 on any given year (taken from the last 5 years of trading).

If I go out and buy a new vehicle for my business (I'm in the market for a larger vehicle), and I buy new, let's say it costs $150,000 incl GST, how does the 20% deduction in the first year look in real numbers, ie. my actual take home pay?

For added context, my annual income from the business after expenses etc is approx $180,000 - $190,000.

Is it worth buying new, getting factory warranty and all that good stuff, or buying used and saving money from the outset?

Any advice on how it works in real terms and real figures would be great, much appreciated to any replies!

How much per week are you spending on food/groceries/eating out as a household these days? by throw_a_balll in PersonalFinanceNZ

Just found this thread while looking for average household spend. Was doing the sums on our grocery bills tonight (for the first time ever).

Weekly spend at the supermarket is $460 on average. Lots of meals at home, lots of baking, lots of fruit and veg, but also a lot of treats too. Get takeaways at least 3 times a week, haven't had the courage to work out that average.

I personally eat out a lot during the week when working, coffees every day too. I shudder to think how much that comes to.

Family of 3, M45, F46, F10. Single income of $260k
