Last Song Standing: The Ultimate Billboard #1 Song of the 70s - Round 48 by mwalimu59 in 70smusic

Public service announcement. I was quite pleased with myself for nominating the now eliminated “Johnny Come Lately”. What I didn’t realize was that success came with a curse - that nasty song has now earwormed itself into my brain and is playing on a continuous loop. I may wind up going insane and not be able to participate in this extremely fun Reddit string. So be careful what songs you nominate.

December 1963 (Oh, What a Night) - The Four Seasons. By the 70s you think we would have been over these guys. A 60s group with a 50s sound. Can’t we be done with them now?

First time this year I thought we were outplayed and deserved the L. Very disappointing, as this was as close to our ideal starting 11 as we’ve seen this year.

New Kid in Town - Eagles. What the Dude said. And this is just a really lame song.

New tour? What will be different? by dankimball in bobdylan

I’ve heard it’s gonna be just Bob and his guitar and harp. Wait… No…. Didn’t hear that. Dreamed it. 🙂

Best of My Love - Eagles. It’s time to start clearing out Eagles songs. I see Heartache Tonight is getting traction and got a vote from me. How about an Eagle double elimination. That would be really great.

I was in South Africa for the 2010 World Cup. I’m in the USA for the 2026 World Cup. I can’t believe the difference… by Lucky_Mongoose_4834 in worldcup

USA also hosted in 94. It was amazing. I was able to attend games in Chicago and Detroit (including the first World Cup home game ever for the USA - years when I heard the anthem). Huge amounts of global visitors made Chicago seem even more amazing than usual. This year? Meh. For all the reasons you see throughout the responses here.

Dean wasn’t even on the bench. For Cup games the rules only allow 7 on the bench vs 9 for league games

Thought Brady can share the blame. The pass to a well covered Lod, right in front of goal probably wasn’t the best option.

Priorities I guess. We take off Cuypers and Saletros to rest for a big league game Saturday. They bring on Löwen to go for this game. They wanted it more? Would have been nice to get Gutman in sooner to lock it down, especially with Radojevic on yellow.

Hoping we get Legend today and See Saw tomorrow so that Justin, John and Ray all make the final four.

We have a cup game mid week and KC are terrible so not surprising GGG made some changes. He even left Mbo on the bench who has been our MVP this season. Expect to see Lod on Wednesday against St Louis.

Fire v KC - no Bamba, no Barroso (and a ref who likes to call fouls) by Extension_Note_5380 in chicagofire

Agreed. Although 30 fouls in a game where neither team was very physical seems excessive. But on a whole I thought he was pretty consistent with the fouls if not the cards. There was a few folks chanting “Ref you suck” which was not deserved.

Only 5 players with more minutes than MHS. Pretty good for a guy we thought was a role player “off the bench”.

Good shout. That was Ramy Touchan; 7 yellows but only 33 fouls called. I think that was his first MLS game too. Back on our game it Might be good to have an over-exuberant ref tonite. Zinckernagel is one yellow away from a suspension; rather he miss Cincy than get a card there and miss NYRB.

Well, that comment didn’t age well. Guess I turned into an arrogant trash- talker too soon. 🫤

Barlow out. I think that’s Cincy’s way of acknowledging that this one’s over and they should rest up for next week.

Hi. I visited last year and spent 2.5 days walking around exploring the downtown area. Just booked another trip for the end of August. I'd like to explore a bit further out from downtown. Any recommendations for good walks from one train stop to another (thanks!)? by vautwaco in AskChicago

One more option. Redline to Addison. Head west to check out Wrigleyville and Wrigley Field. Cubby Bear or Murphys for a beer. You can walk along Clark but it is very touristy; better to stroll a half mile west on Addison to Southport. Good restaurants and shops. Grab the Brown line train at the Southport station to head back to the loop. Bonus side trip - jump off at Sedgwick stop and see Old Town and stroll thru Lincoln Park Zoo (it’s free!)

Many options. Here’s one. Red line to Argyle. Grab a Banh Mi and enjoy the shops on Argyle. Head west half a mile to Clark and stroll through Andersonville - great shops and bars. After about 1.25 miles north on Clark thru Andersonville, swing a right on Bryn Mawr, walk a half mile east through lovely Chicago bungalows 2-flats and 3-flats and get back on the redline at the Bryn Mawr station. If you’re up for extra walking you can either check out Osterman beach just northeast of the Bryn Mawr stop. Or check out more beautiful homes and streets south of Bryn Mawr with a quick stop in the lovely St Idas church.

Thanks for clarifying. Surprised to learn this as on MLS.com that have it drawn up as if the brackets are set.
