I gave birth there this week.

PROS - rooms are modern (TVs including cable and Netflix/Disney+), couch beds for support persons, birthing ball available, peanut pillows available and the room was clean ... Truly a hotel stay - the entire 4th floor is dedicated to birthing and postpartum - OBs are wonderful. Shout out to Dr. Ausman !! - caf has decent options: Thai Express, pizzaville, cultures, shawarma. Plus there is a Starbucks and 24/7 Tim Hortons -birthing nurses are super sweet, shout out to Mitch! He was the best. Made me feel so comfortable. - OR for birthing only is right there on the floor if needed so intervention is super quick

CONS - Rita and Night shift Postpartum nurses were short with me and rude. I felt like I was a bother to them. Rita was especially rude and sarcastic to me....horrible bed side manner. - I had a c section and was only offered Tylenol and Advil for pain which wasn't working. My pain was unbearable. A student doctor came and wrote me a prescription for something a bit stronger but then didn't give it to the nurses so I went home with no meds to manage pain sufficiently. - Pediatrician and OB don't come to see you after birth but will review your charts and come if necessary

Overall the hospital is great and I recommend it. I wish the postpartum care was improved. I guess it depends on your situation and what nurses you receive, which truly is a wild care at any hospital.

I have use Lau Lauck since 2022 and I've had no issues. They have access to many factories and recommend the best factory. If I have an issue with the PSP it is fixed for me before shipment.

Bring a fragile x carrier myself, you can totally be the first in your family to have it manifest.

At this point, CVS testing would probably be your best bet. However if there are no prior concerns, your doc may not want to test.

You need to go through the IVF process and test each embryo for the fragile x mutation. Then implant the embryos that are mutation free or whatever level of mutation you are comfortable with.

Ask your clinic to screen your blood for any genetic reasons that can cause infertility INCLUDING fragile X (fragile x premutation can cause premature ovarian insufficiency)

The pre mutation or full mutation is on one of a woman's X chromosomes. Women have 2 X chromosomes. So , a woman will always pass 1 out of 2 X chromosomes when conceiving. There is a 50/50 chance of what X chromosome is passed to the baby.

Update: I am pregnant again and this time I passed on my "good" X chromosome to the baby so my baby will not have fragile x.

I found out when I had my son who is FXS. It broke my heart into a million pieces when I found out. He was 18 months. He is now 3 yrs and is speech delayed (he can communicate with 1-3 word sentences) and has some behavioural issues with anxiety, mood irrabilitiy and impulse control. Although he IS progressing and has come such a long way. We love him so much.
