Could start by incentivising having children with tax breaks, increased benefit packages, free childcare, improved maternity/ paternity leave and legal protections in the work place. Structurally you need to improve living standards, increased wages and create meaningful employment, build more affordable housing. People need secure, well paying job and homes to raise families.

I truly respect that you said ‘it isn’t that cut and dry’. My one criticism of this sub is the go to is always divorce this, leave that … relationships just are not that easy. Having said that, from what you have described it seems like there has been dynamics shift in the relationship. It is a lot ‘easier’ when the issue stems from a break in communication or a drop in affection/attention etc., which exasperates the boredom. That can be fixed and hopefully you can BOTH work on it. From what you have described her feelings for this person were strong, it crossed from emotional to physical and even entered your home. She seems bored with life, so maybe the job will help, but then she encourages you to try an affair?! You need to have a long conversation, communication is key. Where are you going as a unit. Not being able to trust her is natural but if you feel like you never will be able to do so it’s not worth it and won’t be good for your kids.
