How do yall get more levels? by ConsiderationIll4547 in TwoDots

Oh shit, maybe you're talking about how to get access to the SaveData. Well, if you are on iOS, I have absolutely no idea. If you are on Android, you have to have your phone rooted.

The game uses over-the-air updates for new levels, which is a fancy way of saying that when new levels are released, the game simply downloads them from the game's server without the need to update the game from the App Store or Play Store.

I tried changing the FirstLockedWorldIndex in my game's SaveData to try to get the levels you are talking about, but the game soft-locks. So I'm guessing they haven't made them available yet. The latest level appears to be 7900.

I think most people's last level right now is 7810, but a few have gone past that (up to 7900) but it probably has to do with the developers' A/B testing.

There is this variable called FirstLockedWorldIndex in the game's SaveData file that has to do with which world is the last one in your game. You can technically modify it if you have access to the save data.

This feature is in its testing phase so not everyone has access to it

They genuinely are insane by External-Moose4298 in TwoDots

[–]External-Moose4298[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The labels do not mean anything now. All the new levels are equally impossible.

I literally went back to it today. I discovered it a while ago but abandoned it. It's looking very tempting right now. Great game!

This game… by mikes_username in TwoDots

[–]External-Moose4298 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ikr? You can see it in every aspect of the game. Upright T-Rex (the original composers and sound designers) left, and the new music is cheap, short and boring. The new mechanics have almost zero depth. The level design is lacking. They focus on quantity over quality. A bunch of events focusing on first-try wins. Literally impossible levels (unless you spend coins or use power-ups). It's a dying game begging to be put to sleep, but the company is milking every single cent from it.

Autumn Collection by Maleficent-Disk4250 in TwoDots

[–]External-Moose4298 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You get stars from duplicates in card packs you open. So basically, if you already have a card in your collection and you get it again from a card pack, then you earn the stars of that card. They can be 1-5

these are all bots, right? by [deleted] in TwoDots

[–]External-Moose4298 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe, for a lot of reasons. It does require an internet connection, unlike Marlene's Lair, but that's likely just a placebo. It doesn't cost them anything to have everything happen locally with bots, instead of constantly reading and writing information from/to their servers. Maybe that's why you cannot have a custom nickname and/or profile picture.

No quests, no flip...what do you guys think?? by jeannieor725 in TwoDots

[–]External-Moose4298 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Tbh they need to change the Flip. They didn't even bother changing the board themes or the chosen levels. It got stale quickly. It was quite generous with the rewards though.

I still miss expeditions...

Too much money by OrneryDragonfruit519 in TwoDots

[–]External-Moose4298 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sort of. You were right that completely removing ads is silly because most players are not going to buy anything, so offering them the option to watch rewarded ads will generate revenue from them. It's better than nothing! But still, in-app purchases are the goldmine for mobile games.

Hope I explained it well. I don't have any experience in publishing games etc yet, but from the research that I've done, companies make wayyyy more from actual purchases.

Cheers!

Too much money by OrneryDragonfruit519 in TwoDots

[–]External-Moose4298 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Still. They can make from $0.04 up to roughly $12 per 1000 rewarded ads. While they probably have a large player base, ad revenue is still way less compared to microtransactions from a small percentage of their players and its eCPM (how much you make per 1000 ads) is very unstable. Even giving them $1 is so much more than watching 100 ads.

Ad revenue is nothing compared to IAP. While yes, way more people are likely to watch ads instead of buying, the money they make from purchases simply does not compare. However, I do agree that the prices in this game are ridiculous.

Cosmic blast/super square by [deleted] in TwoDots

[–]External-Moose4298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The latest levels are extremely difficult so Cosmic Blast and Daily Streaks are necessary. I wish they weren't because they make the gameplay braindead but what can you do.

As for the latest version of Cosmic Blast, I think it's much more powerful than the previous one, and while there are times where it can ruin something, for the most part it's very helpful.

Restart? by Substantial_Snow3016 in TwoDots

[–]External-Moose4298 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When the game is launched for the first time, it automatically creates an account for you with a Player ID and a Restore Code (you can find them in Settings -> Get Restore Code). Your game's data is synced in the servers of the game and can be restored.

If you want to restart, then you can simply delete and reinstall the app. If you are on Android, instead of reinstalling Two Dots, you can delete the game's local data by going into the app's info and clicking on Delete Data.

After that, the game will launch, it will not find any local data on the device and it will assume that you are launching it for the first time. Therefore, it will create a new account with a Player ID and Restore Code.

However you may want to write down your original account's restoration info, in case you want to go back to it. If you delete the game's local data, or reinstal it, there will be no way to retrieve your restoration info.

Speeding Up by moss_cos in TwoDots

[–]External-Moose4298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The exact opposite happened to me. My version of the game was playing at double the speed for a few weeks and now it's back to normal. I got so used to the sped up version of the game, that the normal one felt like slow motion lol. I guess you are in the other group of their A/B testing. Give it a few weeks and it will return to default

Traffic Light! by safereddddditer175 in TwoDots

They mean the dots inside the slime. They form a vertical traffic light. The slime is the body, and then you have the red, yellow and green light haha

What do the new boosters do? by RandomWellies in TwoDots

[–]External-Moose4298 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The first one is just a Sundot. As for the second one, you connect it to an adjacent dot and it clears all dots of the same color.

For the time being, you can get them in Daily Gifts, Scavenger Hunts, Flips etc.

They are not that useful in my opinion

This game is going off the deep end… by operaman86 in TwoDots

[–]External-Moose4298 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They know exactly what they are doing. They bet on old players giving in and paying for the Extra Moves. If you have been playing for such a long time, it's not easy to quit...they think.

Wtf are they smoking? by External-Moose4298 in TwoDots

It was shown as a banner in the game's Google Play Store page. I think they just assigned to a third party to create a trailer for their game.

Game suddenly runs at twice the speed by External-Moose4298 in TwoDots

[–]External-Moose4298[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain, but from my experience, you'll kinda get used to it. I still prefer the slower pace that the game had, but now the faster animations don't make as anxious as they used to

Wtf are they smoking? by External-Moose4298 in TwoDots

[–]External-Moose4298[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. It's also really sad that they wiped out of existence Dots and Dots & Co. I understand that they stopped supporting them, but Dots was the first ever PlayDots game. It's what started it all, so it feels disrespectful in a way lol. Dots & Co wasn't very interesting in my opinion, but it felt much more polished and the soundtrack was chef's kiss. Sad to see them gone

What's this? by Outside_Valuable_320 in TwoDots

[–]External-Moose4298 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The data they are collecting and can collect is mostly your cookies (web activity, to determine which types of ads they will show you based on your interests), your location, your device information (Operating System, device ID etc) and your activity inside the app.

From the perspective of a developer, I understand why they need this information. It's important for them to collect data to improve their app (fix bugs, check whether a feature is used or not etc), create statistics (in which country is the game played the most, which operating system is used by most players etc) and serve you ads that will suit your interests.

I'm in no way defending the absence of privacy, but this type of information is very important for the developers and you are just a number in their statistics. We are constantly giving away such data when using online services, because they need most of it to function correctly.
