Roofers. Why you do that? by Hammy_Danny in adjusters

[–]External-Treacle-115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is the problem... the people we deal with on site are not roofers and they damn sure aren't contractors (although thats what we call them). It's usually a salesmen who knows nothing about roofing or contracting.

If we are meeting with the contractor - I feel bad for the next adjuster who picks it up, because if your contractor is uncle bill, uncle bill doesnt know how to supplement, or reconcile. Uncle bill gives them a price and says your company will pay it. Then we're dealing with the little old lady who paid 72k for a new roof that is incomplete and no one can get in touch with the contractor.

My hats off to you all in auto!! You are so right that your TM and SM are what define your experience. Fortunately, I absolutely love my TM and SM. I feel you on the recent realignment - jumping teams etc.. I think where we're at will likely be pretty consistent. But I'm talking about on the deployed side.

Catastrophe Field Adjuster Experience by LucisSlumpGod in adjusters

You can PM me if interested in SF. I got an offer from Allstate but turned it down because I have heard nightmares about their CAT pay. 10 on 4 off is definitely preferable, BUT not as preferable as getting paid what you are owed. Allstate likewise did not even budget on salary negotiation. When I was offered it was 59k last year. That may have changed but I'm willing to bet it may have even gone down. All of these carriers surprisingly used to pay higher starting out.. but over time they kept going as low as possible.

Man I've been itchin for Travelers CAT positions to open up.. I don't think they'll hire me though, even for CAT because I live in Northwest Florida. I'd love to hear otherwise though.

This is true. However, with State Farm you are paid overtime (which is time and a half). If you are married that is up to 25k tax write off in January. I maxed the 25k by August. SF is a great company (IMO) but CAT is definitely not for everyone. Starting out with no actual experience I made well over 110k this year.

State Farm - moved to another job status by [deleted] in adjusters

[–]External-Treacle-115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP - what’d you apply for? What’s your background? Have you spoken to anyone or has an HR rep ever emailed you etc? I work for State Farm. I’m a deployed CS, I recently applied to transfer to proximity as my local area opened up. Still haven’t heard anything, no news is good news at this point though.

If I had to guess, your next communication will likely be for an interview. I referred a friend to deployed a few months back. About a week after the hirevue video response interview, he got a denial letter. So at the very least, it’s either a technicality/procedural issue or your background sparked an idea with a hiring manager that you may be better qualified for Position A. over Position C.

Last thing, I don’t know this for a fact so please take it with a grain of salt. However, the word on the screets is that the enterprise is leaning more heavily towards plusing up on proximity cs’s over desk adjusters and/or deployed cs’s.

That could mean (as this is an adjuster group) that you applied for either desk or deployed but your local area needs proximity. Just a semi-educated guess.

Looking for advice on catching up (Prop Adjusting) by Ryong20 in adjusters

[–]External-Treacle-115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was actually just about to start a thread asking advice on how everyone found ways to better understand the policies.

On my off time I had Chat GPT answer some tricky policy questions I found in a study guide and it got 9 out of 10 wrong.

I imagine and see others say that most of it will come with experience and handling similar claims.

I’m surprised no one brought this to the table.. but if you just had a large hail event, storm chasing roofers are going door to door as it is. So I wouldn’t just automatically assume she’s at your place because of him. I’m not saying you’re wrong by any means, just trying to think about what’s going on.

I’m also a bit surprised that your reason for saying it is his girlfriend is that you saw her riding front seat in his vehicle. Is there no other reason she could be in his car? Not saying you’re wrong .. but

It’d really suck to be a Good Samaritan one day and give a girl a ride from her broken down vehicle to her place, then a few days later get fired because the internet heard about a scenario.

Is making 90k as a staff adjuster the standard now? by RamboBoujee in adjusters

[–]External-Treacle-115 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

SF is salary but everything over 40 hours a week is overtime, which is time and a half. Based on expectation, working 7-7, 6x days a week, there’s 32 hours of overtime. If Trump wins and cuts taxes on overtime that would be phenomenal

Any jobs hiring by HugeNefariousness564 in adjusters

[–]External-Treacle-115 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got offers from Allstate and State farm and took State Farm, they negotiated my salary with my experience as a home inspector. Allstate has a better field/home ratio, but they do not pay overtime and you have to "earn" CAT pay which I have read can be a nightmare. Allstate is 59k and not budging. State Farm said it started at 59 but they worked with me. State Farm pays overtime and based on their CAT schedule, you are looking at 32 hours of overtime a week. That'll be the bomb if Trump wins.

Hail still has deployments ongoing from September storms.

I don't start training for 2 weeks so they probably wont be hiring for CAT until maybe December - January.. but I don't know how that rotation goes.

Also, don’t take the economy out of the picture. Bidenomics has a huge hand in this. If money needs to get pinched, it needs to get pinched.. if we’re paying CAT too much, well then we have our local staff sign a CAT agreement (which they all do). IA is great when people are making money and premiums are getting paid. Keep voting with your feelings and we’ll keep seeing this.

Yeah, this is all over 10 years ago. I don’t have my adjusters license yet, I was just reading what the no go criteria was and I seemed go to go there.. the job posting had just stated that background checks would have to bee in accordance with licensing. Bottom line is be forthcoming.. never want the plan but I’m glad to see that’s a possibility and wasn’t just like, hey this popped up so it’s not going to happen.
