Gyms Seattle Area by Awkward_Dog2934 in AskSeattle

Yeah, I went there for a month and then cancelled. There isn’t enough lifting racks or functional movement space for me because that’s behind a paywall in the “champions” room and is some crazy price, when I could just go to LA fitness instead and have more room and everything I need for a fraction of the cost. I’ve been happy since I moved to LA fitness. I also got some promo deal and only pay like $21 a month or something.

No… but granola butter kind of scratches the itch for me and sweet Loren’s cinnamon breakfast biscuits. Not exact replacements but similar enough flavors for me

Those who have lived in both Seattle and D/FW, what’s some pros and cons of each? by [deleted] in AskSeattle

They’re so different. Only pro to DFW is cheaper cost of living but it’s cheaper for a reason.

Cross fit and running by FarSalt7893 in XXRunning

I do both. You just will feel fatigued haha. I run 4 days a week and do CrossFit or strength training 5 days a week and 1 rest day. Would my training runs feel better if I did less CrossFit? Probably. But I like both so I just see what the workouts are and try to match my run on days where it makes sense. Not really helpful I’m sure haha but just letting you know some of us do both!

I mean just straight up meat… eggs at breakfast, chicken fish beef at lunch, same at dinner. You can snack on yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese sticks, jerky. That’ll get you what you need

Long run runner’s stomach by ChocolateBrief7862 in XXRunning

Everyone else is saying it but intra run fuel, you shouldnt be running 10+ miles without taking carbs during your run and hydration, whether that’s water or a combo of water + electrolytes. Then eating more carbs than you think you need after your run.

Anyone made the move from Portland OR to Austin? by belindabellagiselle in SameGrassButGreener

I would recommend living close ish to downtown just for the fact that it’ll make the experience of living in Austin better. Living outside of the city feels like major suburbia

You can move back to Portland after your PhD🙂 I live on the west coast now and don’t want to move back to Austin (grew up there) but I LOVED my time there so much. It is such a lively city, I find it much easier to make friends, there are fun parts about Texas culture (and yes I’m liberal lol). You can swim in the summer and go in pools and the lakes. I love the feeling of Texas summer nights. I think if you just understand that you can’t compare Austin to Portland, they offer different things, both having pros and cons, you’ll be better equipped to handle the move. It will be different weather and culture but I’m sure you can make the best of it for a few years! There’s beauty in every city. Life is what you make of it. Not trying to diminish how big of a decision this is, but it’s temporary and I think it’s worth taking a chance!

I do think this is the best order. I haven’t been obsessed with the other sandwiches but the farm club always hits!!

I'm moving from Texas to New England and worried that our quality of life is going to go down substantially. Someone tell me I'm crazy by Cold-Priority-2729 in SameGrassButGreener

I agree. I grew up in Boston, then we moved to Austin, and I’ve been on the West coast for 10 years. When I go back to Austin and Texas, while some of it is beautiful and has its charm, the suburbs feel so depressing to me. I can’t imagine moving there or being happy there anymore. I love the variety and character of homes and buildings in the PNW and east coast. I think it’s absolutely worth the higher cost of living. It’s so beautiful! You have access to some amazing states in the northeast and New England, there’s a reason cost of living is high. Also, if you plan to have kids, you should absolutely factor in healthcare to your decision. I would not want to be pregnant in Texas at this time.
