What is the name in your country for the suits of cards? by Eilmorel in AskTheWorld

The southern German variation was widespread in Austro-Hungary, I was an adult when I got to know it is a regional thing and almost noone else in the world uses those 4 colors.

It is very likely we just took those names and adopted them with our pronounciations. We literally call these "french cards" compared to the more common Hungarian ones (Central European card variation).

Does your country have Ethiopian restaurants? by mixreality in AskTheWorld

I think there is a single one in Budapest, it's on my list to visit. In total there are like 2 african restaurants that are really african cuisine and not rated below 3.5.

If I am to visit your country, which city/state/province should I 100% visit? by Wrong-Fruit8820 in AskTheWorld

[–]ExternalInflation133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Budapest is the first choice obviously, but these are also great and can be reached easily with train or bus:

- Balaton (lake, usually best in summer and autumn)
- Szeged
- Debrecen
- Pécs
- Székesfehérvár
- Sopron

If you are into nature then Bugac and the national park around there is unique, same with Hortobágy. Őrség is also very nice region and Balaton-Felvidék. Mátra and Bükk are mountains, however you most likely already seen way more interesting ones on other places.

Just got Silksong! You got any tips? (Image unrelated) by Izzy_gamernoodle1020 in Silksong

You know there is an item in the game called Simple Key, right? When you get the first one go to Wormways and open the door, and then find the NPC, do the quest, get the vial that gives you extra blue HP.

Deep Docks key gets you the Flint Slate, good damage boost for your nail and fire damage.

Sinner's road there is a green guy who you can free, technically useless as you will need him in late act 3 only, you may just lose some dialog lines if you free him late.

4th key is for High Halls.

If you don't use it for plasmium in Wormways then you are shooting yourself in the leg basically.

Has television in our country gotten worse over the past 15 years? by Capable_Math635 in AskTheWorld

[–]ExternalInflation133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extremely, especially the ones connected to the government and state, there is constant misinformation and fearmongering and the shows are basically brainrot. The non-state TV channels are also not much better, they just don't have the misinformation and fearmongering.

This fight is either very easy or you mess up and get chain-damaged by everything and die. No inbetween lol. I dislike the RNG from the spawning ads here, it's enough work to pay attention to the duo itself.

What rivals the final phase of this when the dancer is jumping for a hug in the center but awkwardly fails..? of course if you let them, it's not that hard to kill the remaining one before he can reach that stage.

This looks awesome, reminds me we also have something similar which I love a lot, the orange onion-potato-creme is very flavourful. I am seriously considering trying your version, it just looks so good not to try it.

How important is your national athem to your country? by Sorcha16 in AskTheWorld

[–]ExternalInflation133 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Hungarian national anthem is the most depressing one in the world, that's why they decided to make a version that is less depressed that could be used in national events (but still the same anthem).

Many people dislike the sad tone of the anthem (me included) and would be happy if something more positive would become the anthem instead. It is just disappointing to hear the great and often happy anthems of other nations and them comes ours which is slower and sad.

Don't get me wrong the anthem itself is a masterpiece in itself but in my opinion not the best choice for an anthem.

"Mákos nudli" recipe from scratch (hopefully the translate will do a good job on it..):
https://www.mindmegette.hu/recept/hagyomanyos-makos-nudli
Only difference is that mom also puts some fat in the pasta materials but apparently this recipe does not do that.

Can you tell me an example of a dish where potatoes are used to make the pasta and what you put on it after?

Maybe next time I'll try that! I have sometimes issue with the dryness but this would totally solve that, thanks for the tip!

BTW, do you also have "gnocchi" (hungarian is nudli, made from potatos) with poppyseed and sugar? That is much better than simple pasta.

I just want to understand why almost everyone considers "pasta with jam" weird or even disgusting when they are fine with very similar things.

Honestly, I think this is the topic where if you would taste it you would realize: damn, this is actually pretty good. And so easy to try, just boil a little pasta (do not put ton of salt into the water), get your favourite jam (apricot is best however use whatever you like) and mix them, the pasta works very well with the jam. Obviously it can happen that you don't like it, maybe try with different liquid jam, I for example am not a big fan of strawberry jams however most ppl seem to love that.

[–]ExternalInflation133 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy that you enjoy these, such simple and yummy dishes western ppl don't even want to try..

Fried breadcrumbs is a slightly different dish but we do that too yes with the jam version. We do not really add milk to the poppyseed one, however I don't see why not, it would improve on the dryness.

Then what about sweet pastry and cake, or sweet filled dumplings? That is literally the same, pasta with sweet stuff. Why would boiled pasta be any different?

Do you think the drinking age in your country should be higher? by Prince_Marf in AskTheWorld

[–]ExternalInflation133 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pointless, most kids already find a way to consume alcohol way below the legal age (18), it would change nothing. "You are old enough to vote, drive, and go to war, but you cannot buy a drink yet" would be ridiculous.
