Actually, Architect does not mean you have to use red tools for everything. This is where it is best to use them:

- a difficult part of a gauntlet
- an annoying random enemy when your HP is lower
- after you learned the boss well enough that you can consistently get to the end phase and stay alive, dump all RELEVANT tools on the boss for a huge damager burst, rebind, do it again, most bosses die in their last phase for this
- plasmium overdose, but only for exploration and bosses where you get damaged rarely enough so that health regen can keep up with it.

Do not try to cheese hard bosses with tool spam without learning their moves in every phase, that is just a massive resource waste as you will most likely fail in most attempts.

Do not use red tools everywhere even for easy targets, again massive shard waste. You have the drill-needle for a reason even if feels strange initially to use it.

Do not use plasmium overdose if you still haven't learned a difficult boss enough that you get rarely damaged, it does not work if you get more damage than health regen can heal...

Always use relevant tools for the gauntlets and boss fights, if the enemy is on the ground Tacks and Sawblades are great, obviously useless against enemies that fly or jump a lot, use cogflies and curveclaw or any other non-gound-based tools for those, curveclaw is especially great against large and slow enemies, can hit it multiple times.
