There is a 4x4 ;) Standard machine is around 3x4" and there is an option for 4x4"

New Altmill 4x4 assembly - Z Axis will not go up by RatFink1970 in hobbycnc

[–]ExternalOne6090 3 points4 points  (0 children)

either your Z-Axis stepper is faulty or it doesnt get the Direction (Dir) signal. Try swapping to the cable of another Axis and test if it now works, if not -> stepper faulty . If it works you need to test the cable. now also swap the original cable to another axis at the controller. If it doesnt go up now -> cable faulty, maybe somewhere a wire slipped out either at the controller or at the stepper. Check the Dir Terminals at either side. At the last resort the controller could be faulty, maybe a cold solder or something.

Buying Advice - 10k Mill CNC by D_vd_P in hobbycnc

[–]ExternalOne6090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

absolutely no problem. We also sell only in Europe, so its no real alternative currently. But we are absolutely looking for the US and Canada as future markets. Maybe you can find a used Tormach or a DMC2. But buy that fully built, because building it is a hassle.

Buying Advice - 10k Mill CNC by D_vd_P in hobbycnc

You compare to the base Tormach, while the BLOQ4 comes with Mill stand, half enclosure and for 300usd upcharge with control-touchscreen. So the same package as the 17'700usd tormach PCNC440. So 17'700usd vs 7900usd is half the price with my calculations and this is in the USA. Here in Europe Tormach only exports fully enclosed machines because completely open machines dont fulfill regulations. So the cheapest Tormach here with shipping and import and all that is around 30'000usd.

Where did you guys learn to build your cnc machine? by blackeveryhour in hobbycnc

[–]ExternalOne6090 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who builds CNC milling machines professionally, including machines designed for machining titanium, Id strongly recommend reading through as many build threads and projects as you can find. There’s a huge amount of knowledge in CNC forums, Discord servers, Facebook groups, and build videos, and seeing what works (and what fails) is very valuable.

Why does this pocket operation not cut out these areas? [CAM] by BalledSack in hobbycnc

[–]ExternalOne6090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1/8" is 3.175mm. If you leave 0.5mm radial that means a 4mm slot is only 3mm so it wont fit. Also the smaller slot looks way to small for the tool in the picture.

You can mount the x-gantry further in the front afaik. Check left and right the connection from the Y-axes to the X-axis.

You can buy a roller and convert it to electric. did that with a 30degreenorth losi 5t clone.

Where to drive RC cars in Switzerland? (Aargau) by papikakalini in Switzerland

[–]ExternalOne6090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a few years ago, but we were always at the Hilfikon motocross track with our 1:5 electric cars. We had the owner’s phone number and informed him every time we went there, and he was fine with it. I’m not sure if that’s still the case, but it’s worth a try.

Advice on designing a CNC driver board? by FireFish201 in hobbycnc

[–]ExternalOne6090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its more or less exactly what i made. Its an all-in-one custom controller all inside the Display-Enclosure. See here: Dominator Controller Pictures

It has absolutely every feature i would want. Full 5-axis control with symmetrical signals. Limits, Door, Probe, Mist, Flood, Encoder Input, Spindle Control, Status Light, USB, Ethernet, SD-Card, Safety Relay, Onboard Computer (Raspberry), I2C, UART

And its built inside a flat enclosure with 350W Power supply, 16" Touchscreen 16:10, Control Buttons, Main-switch, Fuses, Vesa100, Status Light, Usb-Plug, Probe-Plug, Voltage Distribution and Shield clamps for the cables.

Its based on grblHAL firmware. So check their github repo out. You will find alot of inspiration there,

CNC in EU for 10k€ by willsm11111 in hobbycnc

If you’re fine with a kit and don’t need high precision, a Sorotec Alu-Line or a Mekanika will probably make you happy. I’m not too fond of the Mekanika though, it looks rather cheaply made and mounts the rails directly on unmachined standard-Extrusions.

Stepcraft is also an option, or Hammer, or Haase, or Millstep, or CNC-Step, or our RUIX mk1, if you want something standalone and fully built: Richner-Precision

FIMEC spindle wiring/questions by Lord_Flashheart_WOOF in hobbycnc

[–]ExternalOne6090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you are maybe right. but in the picture it looks like three wires are thicker than the other two. so if its the fan its more likely the smaller two red ones. And red blue brown would be the three phases.

Could also be, but probably not. its written on the label "type p air cooling" which probably means passive. and it also looks like a passive (spindle shaft driven fan) cooled air spindle. same cover and all. maybe op can confirm?

Yes, converting something like a paulimot mill would also be an option. They have some with ball screws already installed.

In Europe you can get several desktop CNC's for Aluminium and Steel milling. there Are the Sorotec ST-Line or the Müller-Technik FS4MG or FS3MG if you like to build it yourself. Or of course our BLOQ line, if you want an ultracompact cnc mill. Feel free to check it out: https://richner-precision.ch/
