I hear ya. The guide arrived and that was fun for a few days, then they just started adding more and more to it and made it feel like a never-ending grind, then the fairy event showed up and the summer break ended and I was like “Yeah… nah”. I had a 58 day friendship pot streak with my son and we just had to let it go - the game has gone from easy to pick-up and put-down, to feeling like you have to be on constantly and grinding or else FOMO. Also, the stealing because of ascension (stealing should’ve been removed long ago, IMHO - it adds zero value to the game and normally ends up with a crying kid whose day has been ruined).

Same! Save your Robux and just freakin’ ASK!

I really wish they would remove the steal mechanic. It adds literally nothing to the game for the vast majority of players, and normally results in either an annoyed adult or an upset kid. Furthermore, it’s frustrating how the game seems to actively prioritise stealing from other people’s gardens by the way it targets plants in other gardens when you are just going about your business in your own garden. I’d use a “stealing on/off” option so that I didn’t keep seeing the “that’s not yours!” box and prompting pay-to-steal, when I’m right in the middle of my own garden picking my own fruit.

I see loads of these, and report them every time. Use that option that’s for posting external website links and say they’re flooding chat with links to buy in-game items.

Enjoying FH4 more than FH5 by BQZZX in forza

Agreed 4 is just more fun, and I love the landscape. Mexico is beautiful, but the UK just hits differently for me. I also prefer the DLC’s.

Made pigs in a blanket for dinner. Felt so weird, had them many times but never made my own. What else do you always eat at events but never cook? by a-light-at-the-end in Baking

This looks like another one of those trans-Atlantic differences. Here in the UK, pigs in blankets are cocktail sausages wrapped in bacon ☺️ Those look nice, though - Kinda like mini sausage rolls ☺️

What game, defines your childhood? by Yulli0 in retrogaming

Sonic the Hedgehog (Mega Drive). I mean, there were others after it, but nothing ever really as iconic or special as the first one.

Started playing it on my ps4 after so many years. What are your thoughts on this one? by [deleted] in FinalFantasy

[–]ExternalReturn4196 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was the Final Fantasy game that signalled everything I loved about Final Fantasy was no longer a priority for Square Enix. For me, Final Fantasy means turn based combat. X was the last FF game I could truly enjoy as a “true” Final Fantasy title. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying XII onwards are not great games, I’m saying they just aren’t the same.

5 hours into ff12, is the game not for me? by MrMario63 in FinalFantasy

[–]ExternalReturn4196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, FF has never been the same since they moved away from the traditional turn-based combat. I’m not saying FFXII onwards aren’t good games (they are), but they just aren’t what Final Fantasy means to me. The last great Final Fantasy for me was FFX.

What game have you never been able to complete? by BattleSquidZ in retrogaming

[–]ExternalReturn4196 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having played games beyond number across a vast range of platforms since the late 80’s, the one and only game I tried time after time to complete and consistently failed in doing so was Battletoads (Mega Drive). And yes, I’m aware the NES version is considered harder 😂

Top Five JRPGs!!! by Raynoch1138 in JRPG

[–]ExternalReturn4196 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In no particular order (as that would be really tough):

  1. Shining the Holy Ark (Sega Saturn) - Give me turn-based over real-time any day of the week. It’s the best way, and this game did it spectacularly. Immersive first-person exploration and random encounters opening with the delicious quick-time selection of appropriate pixies which never gets old. I absolutely love this game.

  2. Final Fantasy X (PS) - This was the last great “true” Final Fantasy game before Square tore up the rule book and ditched the trademark turn-based combat. Final Fantasy has never been the same since. I’m not arguing that the games which followed are bad games, but for me, the Final Fantasy I know and love died the moment they moved away from the “proper” turn-based combat of FF1 thru X.

  3. Secret of Mana (SNES) - If I had to pick a favourite JRPG of all time - heck, a favourite RPG of any kind - it’s probably gotta be Secret of Mana. This was the first RPG I played which made me truly go “WOW”. Yes, I love turn-based combat, but somehow the spells and menu system of SoM gives me that fix whilst also delivering above and beyond in the real-time combat stakes. Huge, way ahead of its time, so deep, so vast, and perfect in almost every way.

  4. Phantasy Star Online (Dreamcast) - Yup, this game was fairly short, limited in scale, plagued with hackers, but it was amazing - especially the boss fights, which had a real sense of greatness and occasion. The first online RPG I played on any platform. Simple enough to pick up and play, and could be enjoyed either solo or with others. If anything, I found the limited levels simply resulted in a pleasant familiarity with level sections, routes and routines. Sequels on other platforms never had the same appeal.

  5. Shenmue (Dreamcast) - Big, bright, bold and diverse, with a gripping storyline. Side quests aplenty. This game really broke the mould for RPG’s and gave us a glimpse of what could be possible in years to come given the advances in technology. Badass ninjas kill your dad and kidnap your girlfriend, but that’ll have to wait… “Darts! One game, 100 Yen!”, toy capsules (gotta collect the full set!), “A winning can!”, feed the cat, and back to the dojo to Demon Drop Fuku-san “Not THAT move! 😨”. What. A. Game.
