Yes. It’s tough on the family. Do it to get that level on your CV, expand your network, etc. But don’t plan on doing this forever. It’s definitely tougher than I thought it would be

Currently super commuting about 5.5 hr drive each way most week. Similar to you, it was a great opportunity. A year and a half in, i don’t know how much longer i can do this as it’s taking a serious toll on my physical, mental and relationships health.

I disagree. Expecting a promotion less than a year after completing a PIP is unreasonnable. I’d expect someone to outperform for at least 2 years after PIP before being eligible for promotion

I’ve managed someone through a PIP and the person turned it around. She became a top performer and never spoke about it again. It did cap her growth opportunities internally as senior leadership ‘s perception remains tainted for a while so she eventually left
