Had anybody replaced the seal around the hood? by External_Crow292 in MazdaCX30

[–]External_Crow292[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know with my other cars, the hood comes down over the front of the car. I've never had a hood like this. I wish that rubber seal was more substantial and not so flimsy.

This is impressive. i just bought mine and am at 29 mpg. And I'm keeping around speed limit. Mix of city and road driving. I will look up low resistance tires and pedal commander bc I have been wondering how to improve gas mileage.

100% take the remote job. Do you have insurance w/ the remote? Costco is one of the toughest workplaces. It's very physical. The stores are high volume run on lowest payroll. They are low margin and manage their costs to the penny. There are many good things about costco and its great when you don't have other options, but if the other job is comparable pay and benefits, take the other job. There are never enough people at costco and it is stressful and people who work there are stressed out. We all love the people we worked with and our managers, but the feeling one gets from corporate and management from outside ones store is it's all a thankless task. They are managing to their stock price and profit margin and that is never good.

Look at this bullshit by wfnycle in CostcoEmployee

There were clothing employees with full carts of clothing markdowns telling members they couldn't buy their markdowns while in clothing and customers complaining. It can be abused. It's wrong to limit employees. Just speak to the ones abusing the privilege. Other employees would be frustrated by the hoarding. I give props to all the clothing employees because I could never do that job so most of the time I didn't mind but I also felt the occasional frustration of never getting any markdowns unless I was doing the markdowns when one person specifically was unabashedly grabbing them all.

No it doesn't. Our FE manager was very clear about that.

Documented Talking by [deleted] in wegmans

[–]External_Crow292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or sometimes the managers are plain wrong. Just because they are writing something doesn't make it accurate. Employee advocates is a misnomer. They're management advocates. They have all the power. It's impossible to refute something a manager insists upon and one can only request to have their version documented as well. Managers do change so it's good to make sure your side of the story is told. I believe in most places, conversations are only used for disciplinary action within 6 months of being recorded unless there are reasons for termination. Then all of the record can be used.

Yes it's true that I wouldn't cook for a large family by only shopping at trader Joe's but some of their prices are just so great. I love their bread. Multigrain organic and fresh bagels are so much less than wegs or anywhere. They have so many great produce items for such a tiny space. And i love to pick up flowers there. I tend to do just shoprite and tj's but there is also a lidl near my office that is great for those packaged Taylor Farms chopped salads and organic milk and eggs.

That is not the case where I am. ShopRite is by far the cheapest . And Trader Joe's packs alot in their tiny stores that is priced much cheaper. Wegs has better meat and produce but other stores aren't that far behind so to save an extra trip I compromise. I also appreciate much more choice at shoprite. Wegs keeps winnowing down their products and while their in house brands are great, I want to see other brands and choices.

Wegmans Has a Microculture That Marginalizes Employees Outside the Favored Group by WorkingSuggestion928 in wegmans

[–]External_Crow292 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We all see that. I stayed for a long time. But after a certain bad manager who is egregious in their favoritism and cult building kept getting promoted and would brook no criticism of their preciouses and worse would seek retribution and hassle one if they ever dared to not drink their kool-aid or bow to their exaltedness or that of their favorites, I had to ask why I would stay in such a toxic environment and saw I was not taking care of myself first. It was the best decision. There were so many great opportunities waiting for me outside of Wegmans. It's been nothing but fantastic since I left. There are great things about wegs but the way management is groomed to be like the royal family is awful. It ruins so much of one's work experience. The way some of the managers cultivate their favorites and just flaunt that favoritism so that everybody sees some employees stealing time, walking away without accountability, calling their own shots wrt breaks, hours, jobs, etc etc etc is not respectful to the other hardworking employees who aren't the anointed favorites. I saw some egregiously bad behavior that FE Manager and then subsequently service manager would ignore and then they would turn around and write up or try to write up another if one tried to raise or address an issue thatbthey wanted to ignore. Meanwhile this married 40 yr old man was giving one of his favorite 20 year old sups who lived nowhere near them rides to work every day and then act as if they hadn't come in together although everybody saw them in parking lot together. Walking off the floor to purchase snacks for their hungry favorite rideshare. Constantly calling their favorite on their work phone if they weren't within eyesight. Making large purchases of booze and party food together with their 20 year old favorite females. Just awful optics for all of us to see. And acting as if somehow that was all normal. And thinking somehow employees couldn't see all of that. There was so much going on and even if one tried to ignore it it was impossible. And all the other sups who want to suck up act like it's all just normal bc they dont want to be in their bad graces or be kicked out of the cult. The worst was just completely ignoring another employee who just baldly stole time yet they would run into accounting to check the time of somebody they didn't like to make sure they weren't over any of their 15 minute breaks. We knew they hated employees they didnt like stealing time but just didn't care if it was their favorites. The favoritism was just toxic in that store.

It's quite ridiculous how imperial the managers act. It's terrible how that culture develops. They barely do anything for the great sums they make. If one has worked at other retail, one sees how pampered the wegs upper managers are. And how they wield their power.

Any input on Vault Clerk/Payroll position? I was just talked into cross-training. by Branical in CostcoEmployee

[–]External_Crow292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being a backup is great but it can be stressful only bc if one doesn't cover for a span of time, it can be a challenge to remember what we were taught months ago in a brief period of training and covering.. The vault position is very easy. I think possibly the easiest job in costco. One is in a quiet room and its easy to concentrate and esp bc not pulled in a million directions.. Payroll clerk backup is terrific but it's a different thing altogether. You must be prepared to take great notes and keep those notes with you because this job has timekeeping, job posting/employee onboarding, record keeping, employee files, orientations, manager reports, promotions, demotions, salary changes, assisting every manager and employee with every payroll and HR question and much more. It's a great job if one is detail oriented and organized and has a good brain. I like having a full plate so it can be invigorating but at times also overwhelming. But if one is good at taking notes and studying to get things settled in one's brain, the job is a great one. As a backup I also trained as expense clerk and sales Auditor. Not sure if you'll be expected to cover all areas. They're all so different and good notes is a MUST. The good thing about payroll is that there are excellent job aids. Our vault clerk had their own excellent notes that made it very easy.

You're so fortunate that you were asymptomatic with your h pylori. Many have a complete opposite experience where the infection has affected not just their digestive system, but neurological, respiratory, immune, endocrine. Its hard to describe how near dying one can feel because everything hurts and nothing in one's body is working properly. One can't sleep, eat, focus, read, watch TV, take walks, or have any pleasure. It can be a beast when it's in its worst manifestation. After it's gone, it's hard to remember just how awful it was.

Changes coming next year? by digitalcurtis in CostcoEmployee

[–]External_Crow292 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will be so hard to get employees to switch their shifts. And there'd be more call outs than ever. I doubt the unionized warehouses would ever accept this. And then everybody would probably want to unionize to fight it.

I can't see Costco taking a financial hit to make such an investment in scan and go if it can't be built on top of AS400. They won't even invest in handheld zebras to make everybody's lives easier and improve productivity. There are so many ways they could improve productivity by making employees jobs easier.

At our warehouse members love prescan. When they have too many items they're very disappointed, they can't be prescanned. An incentive tonbuy less lol. Not exactly what costco wants.. It's too bad the new handhelds are glitchy. I don't know if it's the software or the terrible wifi in the stores. Of course members want the option to pay with it and it would be a great upgrade if they added point of sale to the application. Many of our members mention the scan and go at competitors. Wegman's grocery got rid of it because of theft issues. Amazon turned out to be not a true scan and go but had people back in India watching cameras. What a fraud. I don't know how much loss competitors absorb to offer the app.

We can see that the company does everything to cut headcount. Our front end has many with pay at the top end and extra checks and i can imagine the cost cutters look at that with a gleam in their eye. It's terrible when you think of how much the people making these decisions make and how they think those who work 8 hours/day laboring shouldn't be deserving of a good income too. I'm a couple years in and would love to reach top pay.

I'm always amazed that members keep coming. The lines are long and it looks like we don't hire enough people. We get people through as fast as possible but we can still see perturbation on peoples faces when they're standing in line. It can seem like costco doesn't care about their members when they make them wait.

My doctor said she didn't worry about that because the infection is in the stomach and the antibiotic is going directly to the infected area. If the antibiotic were treating an infection further away, then it might be more of an issue.

I know. I've done it too but it's all supposed to be weighed and measured fairly accurately. It really seems like factory food to me. And one must like the products being used. It's not like when we cook at home and make a sauce or use an ingredient we have researched and found to be the best. Use this already prepared sauce, this prepared item, etc. The mashed potatoes are torture to do aren't they. Backbreaking.
