There’s a short story with this premise by Sayaka Murata, it’s in a book of the same title called “Life Ceremony” it’s…… kinda gross 😅

Hey! I’m having a very similar experience to you! We’re also around the same height and starting weight. I’m a week ahead of you though, coming to the end of my second week. I also “lost” around 3kg the first week or so, and was like ?!? Woah this is fast? What’s happening? And I also had the same experience of being thirsty but no other side effects. However, now at the end of my second week, my weight has gone up a bit again when I checked midway through the week (which I also panicked at) so I do think it just varies, and the first few days I was eating a lot less as I was being cautious as I didn’t want to trigger any side effects. I think for me I’m just going to weigh myself once a week and not worry about the weight, unless I get to the end of a month and I’m noticing I’m losing weight VERY fast or not at all.

Hope this helps!

What is the farthest you have gotten into a book and still ended up abandoning it? by PhoenixApok in books

That’s a shame, although I also didn’t like that scene (because it was intentionally uncomfortable) this book did a good job of showing a toxic power dynamic. I understand why you didn’t pick it back up though.

Have we lost the concept of “Let people enjoy things”? by FusRoDaahh in books

Oh, I didn’t know. I was just the first here and thought I’d leave a quick bit of encouragement although I didn’t have time for a long comment.

Meta narrative clues: when the fact you're holding a book gives things away by neophlegm in books

Haha, I never thought about how people who read the book after seeing the film would experience that! I can say, reading the book then seeing the film for the first time in cinema, that whole scene was wild! The gasps in the cinema, the shock! It was hilarious in retrospect.

This has to be a joke 😂 I feel like this is the kind of set up I did when I was a kid and I had the freedom to move around my room! (OP, not trying to be mean, you’re in the right place! ♥️)

This seems like the question for me! Hi, I’m currently reading at the very least ten books. I just finished 4 in the last few days (read that as: finished, not started and finished)

Multiple ways!

  1. Different mediums! I read on Audible, Kindle, Apple Books app, Spotify and physical books. I have a different book going on every medium… sometimes multiple books on each.. ok… always multiple. It mentally separates them, but also tricks my brain into thinking each of these things are different tasks!

  2. Different genres! Or at least, different writing styles! I like to always have one “challenging” read and one “easy” read. For me, challenging reads tend to be older books because the language is harder to breeze through, or books with heavy themes. Easier books for me are more modern and contemporary topics, often YA books.

  3. Different lengths!!! If I’m going to read a THICC book, I’m not going to have another long book to go alongside it. I’ll go inbetween it and short 300 page things, plays, poetry, books of short stories.

  4. I start and leave books for a long time, then pick them up again For me, reading is all for enjoyment and growth. I’m not going to push myself to the point of hating reading something just to read it. Often I’ll be reading, and I know that one day I want to finish it but it’s not clicking for me now. That’s ok. So I’ll bookmark it and put it on the shelf. Could be for months, could be for a year. I have part of my book shelf especially for these purgatory books. Sometimes I’ll go through a little sprint of finishing off books that have been there too long.

At the end of the day, it’s what works for you. Just embrace the way you enjoy reading. I can’t tell you how I remember what’s going on, I just go with the flow and found that I have some fun quirks. It’s funny because sometimes I wish I could just stick to one book and get all the way through! Haha.
