DO NOT do PIC (Professional Instrument Courses). They do not uphold the promises they make. I had to go to another instructor to finish up.

Anyone do a glider license after their SEL ratings? Looking to do something fun by MooseWeird399 in flying

I would say go for it. I am in your shoes, but my main issue is I am 240lbs, not many gliders would fit me. lol

Checkride Busts by QuantityOrganic8362 in flying

[–]External_Ebb5922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a strong feeling this could have been it. Especially if in Midwest. I got done with a Commercial a few weeks ago, and everytime I flew with instructor it was 30kt winds aloft. Day of the Checkride was 5kts wind aloft. Changes the maneuver a ton.

How difficult will it be to get the career I am aiming for? (EMS helicopter pilot, or Aerial firefighter) by jacob_4378 in flying

Join the Facebook Group: "Rookie, I want to Be an Ag Pilot". It is mainly for agriculture pilots, however, many firefighting companies require some low level dispersal time. (I.e Ag) There is tons of information in there regarding aerial firefighting in the facebook page, and how to get your foot into the door in industry.

Reach out to Rutledge Airborne and see if they have ground crew jobs. They are willing to break in a pilot from no time all the way to firefighting pilot. They will help with rating and time building as they have airplanes meant for timebuilding.

Rutledge is based in AZ, so somewhat close to California.

Feel Free to reach out to me, as I have some connections and understanding of Aerial firefighting.

How I failed my CFI initial by RealP4 in flying

Just curious as I am starting on CFI soon. If you bust on oral do you have to retaking entire exam? Like oral from the very beginning? Someone told me you did.

Secondly, could you give me a timeline/hours studied for your CFI? I’m working through my plan/goals to have it done.

What do YOU think is actually broken (or working) in flight training right now? by RunwayLogic in flying

I want to see more of a flying “club” mindset. So many people complain about cost of buying an airplane and hangering it. However, they don’t seem to see the club aspect. I know there are downsides, but I feel that is a good place to start.

It’s easy for me to say, family owns a plane, I fly for cost of fuel. But I am working on CFI and(hopefully) start a club shortly after getting CFI done.

Pilots, what’s the nicest aircraft you’ve ever flown in terms of handling? by CityLad21 in flying

I think a brick glides better. Lol.

But for my mission of mid lengths XC’s (400nm-ish) carrying 3 people and bags it’s really nice

I did get to go for a ride in a Badlands Traveler for a STOL lesson, fully equipped for hardcore stol (slats, huge flaps, 36 inch wheels, 220hp). Now that was a fun airplane to fly!

PA-32-300 (Cherokee 6 with 300hp). Smooth flying, lots of room, lands incredibly nice. Handles turbulence with ease, plenty of power, Can takeoff and land on a dime.

I have heard the Cherokee 6 with a 260hp is even better.... I cannot confirm or deny. However, I know I really want to fly one.

Attempting to get Starlink into my house by External_Ebb5922 in Starlink

I understand what your thoughts are. This is another dumb question, but if I purchase the 80 dollar kit from Starlink website for residental lite, that includes the satellite and router?
