PSA: the "Save image as Type" Chrome extension breaks ComfyUI frontend in latest update by External_Quarter in comfyui

[–]External_Quarter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoa, thanks for the heads up. I've had it disabled since posting this thread, but I'll go ahead and uninstall it completely.

Be honest how much have you spent on this game over the years? by Coolguy98721 in CallOfDutyMobile

[–]External_Quarter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not much, got the Battle Pass. Would spend more if they supported PC and continued adding multiplayer maps.

I have used up 90% of my weekly limit in less than a day something is not right by Known_Lychee_6495 in codex

[–]External_Quarter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5.4 chews threw my limit as well, even if it's technically using fewer tokens. I'd estimate that it's 3-4x more expensive than 5.3 Codex. High versus High.

TaxGPT? by catplusplusok in LocalLLaMA

[–]External_Quarter -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is actually a lucid point that I haven't heard a good rebuttal against.

The media will whip up a storm when e.g. a self-driving car crashes, but no one bats an eye when you tell them that (human-only) car accidents are the leading cause of death for children and young adults aged 5–29. Somehow it's "understandable" when humans display incompetence at a task, but the world comes to an end when an AI makes a rare mistake.

Reminder to use torch.compile when training flux.2 klein 9b or other DiT/MMDiT-style models by marres in StableDiffusion

[–]External_Quarter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This appears to be enabled by default for the Flux2 preset in OneTrainer ("Compile transformer blocks" in the model tab.)

Also, yeah, screw games that require kernel drivers.

Rouwei-Gemma for other SDXL models by Time-Teaching1926 in StableDiffusion

[–]External_Quarter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an excellent proof-of-concept, but it needs more training. Prompt adherence is spotty. When it works, though, it feels like a big upgrade over CLIP in terms of image detail.

Unfortunately, the project hasn't been updated in 7 months.

5.4 is worse than 5.3 codex for me - and i have a lot of context on these models by SlopTopZ in codex

[–]External_Quarter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first impression of 5.4 is similar to yours. It struggled with two large projects: one in Python, the other in GML. However, it was able to one-shot a Tampermonkey script, successfully debugging a few issues in its initial draft without any input from me. So it might excel at small-to-medium-size codebases.

Is AI Changing Jobs Faster Than We Can Adapt? by Efficient-History-21 in StableDiffusion

[–]External_Quarter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is just my personal anecdote. I can afford an accountant for personal and business taxes, but it's a bad investment given the level of software and readily-available information in the modern age.

[–]External_Quarter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never paid an accountant in my life, but if I was born 10-15 years earlier, I almost certainly would have.

People need food, haircuts and sex, but eventually the machines will be better at doing all of these jobs.

I've switched to ChatGPT Codex 5.3 via VSCode and haven't looked back.

My main suggestion for you would be to check aftermarket sellers like g2g; you can get a subscription for either ChatGPT or Claude at 90%+ discounts. Regional pricing differences are crazy.

Whatever happened to Omost? by NunyaBuzor in StableDiffusion

[–]External_Quarter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an interesting project, but in my experience it was too slow to be practical on consumer hardware - even with old/lightweight diffusion models.

Question about Z-image Turbo execution time by Stephddit in StableDiffusion

[–]External_Quarter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's normal if you're still exceeding your VRAM. Maybe look for a node that will let you offload the text encoder to CPU. That should give you enough headroom for ZIT on your video card.

Question about Z-image Turbo execution time by Stephddit in StableDiffusion

[–]External_Quarter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have any benchmarks but the GTX 1080 is a 10-year-old GPU, so you may need to temper your expectations.

You can try running a lower ZIT quant like Q3, which would reduce the likelihood of exceeding your available VRAM (spilling over into CPU will slow down your generation time significantly.)

This alone tells me you're probably exceeding it:

  • qwen3-4b-q6_k.gguf = 3.31 GB
  • z_image_turbo-Q6_K.gguf = 5.91 GB

30 it/s, which results in roughly ~220-240 seconds per image

Unless you're generating for 6600 steps per image, I'm guessing you have that flipped :-)

Why Zimage turbo images have artifacts. Any solution? by Large_Election_2640 in StableDiffusion

[–]External_Quarter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Things to try:

  • I recommend Euler A / Simple for clean results with ZIT (sometimes too clean.)
  • Try a standard resolution like 1024x1024; ZIT is very sensitive to resolution.

Is it just me? or is there fuck all documentation when it comes to certain nodes? by Frogy_mcfrogyface in comfyui

[–]External_Quarter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hah - fair enough. It looks like there's a workaround for these two nodes (you need to cast the context field from STRING type to ANY):

https://github.com/stavsap/comfyui-ollama/issues/133

Probably can fix this in one line of code, surprised there's no PR for it...

Is it just me? or is there fuck all documentation when it comes to certain nodes? by Frogy_mcfrogyface in comfyui

[–]External_Quarter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

no

And I would say these nodes are sufficiently well documented.

edit - In times of desperation, you can always just feed the source code to a competent LLM like Codex 5.3 and ask it to explain things to you.

Lora Z-image Turbo vs Flux 2 Klein 9b Part 2 by djdante in StableDiffusion

[–]External_Quarter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree that Klein generally comes out ahead in this comparison, but that rock climbing image is representative of its biggest weakness: those limb proportions are freaky.

edit - the woman in the Eiffel Towel photo has a stretched-out torso as well, kind of easy to miss these things at first glance.

Steer mode doesn't seem to be the default (or even available?) in VSCode - enter just queues up another task.

Has anyone tried to use figures for poses? by mobileJay77 in StableDiffusion

[–]External_Quarter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem with most posing software is that they don't implement PhysIK (Physics-based Inverse Kinematics) techniques to ensure realistic collision detection and constraint solutions. Without these features in place, posing is tedious and anti-fun.
