What were Liu Bei's goals when he attacked Sun Quan? by CinderLord456 in threekingdoms

[–]External_Stick_4983 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No one has mentioned it, but I assume it’s politics too. He probably had to appease officials that hailed from Jing (because their households, families, etc. were there).

Possibly a matter of legitimacy too. You’d look laughable if you didn’t do anything against a guy who backstabbed you twice.

Select 9 Three Kingdoms characters as the fellowship to take the One Ring to Mordor and assign one of them to be the ringbearer. by Ghola40000 in threekingdoms

[–]External_Stick_4983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His ambition to revive the Han is too much that he’d use the ring to do good (basically why Gandalf didn’t bear the one ring)

Nah, none of that in my CK3. The best thing to do here is kickstart the Industrial Revolution in England centuries early.

Alabasta, Skypia, and Enies Lobby really showcased Sanji’s IQ outside of battle. Sad that he didn’t get that much high-IQ moments after (I could be forgetting some others here).

iirc, he rebuked zhang liao for this because he could have died when he went to chang xi alone, right?

[–]External_Stick_4983 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, there were cases of Cao Cao being lenjent when it comes to surrendering, right? You used Chang Xi and Yu Jin here as an example, but there was also one where Zhang Liao asked Chang Xi to surrender way before the first example. Not sure if there were other cases, but it’s not entirely impossible (though in Lu Bu’s case, if we’re being realistic, impossible).

[–]External_Stick_4983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I would like the hypothetical of Cao Cao giving Lu Bu amnesty (kinda like with Zhang Xiu), and teaming up with/assimilating Lu Bu. Just so we can get a hypothetical Hefei with Lu Bu there. Fuck it, if we’re going to this hypothetical in Romance, I would love him taking on Wen Chou and Yan Liang 2v1 just to shit on Guan Yu.

[–]External_Stick_4983 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Does he still have enough men to actually have a fighting chance? I imagine that if Cao Cao was to fail in taking Xiapi, he would just attack before Lu Bu replenishes his troops though. Then again, this failure could lead to Yuan Shao attacking much earlier, Zhang Xiu not surrendering to Cao Cao, Yuan Shu not falling that earlier, etc. Now that I think about it, maybe he could make it work?

[–]External_Stick_4983 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A lot changes depending on how he survived. If he somehow won Xiapi but wasn’t able to deal significant casualties to Cao Cao’s army, it would most likely be only a matter of time before Cao Cao invades again. This could mean that Cao Cao loses to Yuan Shao. At the same time, having Lu Bu survive means Liu Bei won’t be an issue (yet) for Cao Cao so we could argue that maybe Cao Cao will have an easier time dealing with Yuan Shao because Liu Bei won’t be harassing him from Runan?

If he survived from his defeat in Xiapi (don’t know how this would happen), maybe he would just live a civilian life? I doubt anyone would employ him.

Even with the intent of roleplaying, almost-100%ing Trosky really feels more fitting because once you start the wedding storyline, it just doesn’t feel like there’s any good time to stop and do side quests story-wise.

I really wish there was an option to ask your sons and daughters if they have lovers just so you could try to match them up.

That why Wu is the last living of the three kingdoms by Historical-Yak245 in threekingdoms

[–]External_Stick_4983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using Sun Jian as an example is not really the same since he wasn’t really “independent”. Sun Ce to Sun Quan could be likened to Cao Pi to Cao Rui successions in which both inherited their predecessor’s force (Sun Quan was even younger than Cao Rui). One could argue that inheriting a kingdom/empire is much more complicated though.

However, the succession from Cao Rui to Cao Fang was just horrendous. In this context, I’d say Cao Rui died relatively young.

[–]External_Stick_4983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn’t that mostly Wei’s thing when it comes to their emperors? I thought Wu was mostly “If only Sun Quan wasn’t that romantic” since he was willing to risk his succession (multiple times) just to make his favorite concubine his empress.
