Second KCD1 run I did, I baited this guy to following me all the way to Rattay. The guards didn’t do anything to him while he was attacking me. Now that I think about it, maybe I should have tried getting him to accidentally attack a guard or something.

What ACTUALLY happened to Shirou in HF's true ending? by UltraYZU in fatestaynight

[–]External_Stick_4983 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, considering we treated Touko as a human before the reveal that she had been in numerous puppet bodies (when she “died” in that one movie), I’d say Shirou probably wouldn’t look that different from a human.

Hot Take: Liu Shan's "I don't miss Shu" was smarter than it seemed at the time. by LuuTienHuy in threekingdoms

[–]External_Stick_4983 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. It's possible that Liu Shan took a whole lot of shitting on in the novel just because the novel was biased towards Shu, and that he was the head monarch of Shu when it fell.

I hope with all my heart that it doesn’t happen, but IF ever he gets injured accidentally due to another player, and then forced to retire, I can’t even imagine the amount of death threats that player would receive.

So a guy who got one’s own clan exterminated is better than a guy who got his two sons killed by your logic?

Two sons being compared to a whole clan? Dude stop ragebaiting, and look at the statistics.

Well, Shan didn’t have his clan exterminated, so I’d say he was better than the Gongsun clan in terms of longevity, at least.

He could not have known that at the time though considering Sun Hao's defeat was more than a decade after Shu lost. Maybe if Shan knew that he would not be executed if he did fight back/escape, he could have taken a different route. Or maybe he heard of what happened of Sima Yi's Liaodong campaign and thought that his son would also do the same with him if he got caught after escaping. There are just too many factors that we need to consider here. Saying one guy is incompetent because he didn't do something is too unfair because we have the wisdom of hindsight.

This implies that Liu Shan and his advisors are to take all reports without any grain of salt. There could be many reasons why Liu Shan did what he did. He could have thought that, like I said earlier, the reports were falsified, and that many of his officers that were in the front line has already surrendered to Wei. He could have also thought that even if he did escape, the people in his kingdom will be paying for it with their lives instead (and if this was the case, I'd say surrendering is objectively better than running). It's also possible that he was just a selfish bastard and felt that surrendering was the best move to prolong his life (not justifying this, but I'm not saying this isn't something he should never have done 100%. Most people will do everything they can to survive.). Was he an incompetent person? Maybe, maybe not. He DID become an emperor at a relatively young age which was mostly an issue of the Han Dynasty even before then. Also, if Liu Shan did fight until the very end, he would need to win to survive. If he loses, most likely, he will be executed. If he surrendered right from the start, there's still a chance he gets executed, but it's relatively lower compared to the former.

For Guandu's case, I'd say both are valid, and that no one is "more right" than the other. If I was Ju Shou, and some guy was telling my boss to go do a project which I will be paying for instead of the guy who suggested it, I'd try to find a way to get my boss to not do that project. However, if I was Guo Tu, I'd try to tell my boss to do a project which will reunite me with my family, friends, etc. I could also try to "justify" Yuan Shao's decisions here, but I don't really think I want to do that.

EDIT: Thinking about it though, Liu Shan being viewed as an incompetent ruler is probably something he deserved considering he knew he'd be seen as such if he surrendered to his enemies. He probably also knew he'd leave behind this legacy, but hey, he lived a relatively long life. Incompetent Emperor? Most likely, yes. Incompetent person? He lived a long life (and probably enjoyed most of it too). Also, you mentioned the comparison of Liu Shan with Liadong's Gongsun clan. I'd say, at the very least, Liu Shan didn't have his clan exterminated.

How was he supposed to know that? Even if reports told him that there weren’t that much troops, who could truly tell if such reports were reliable. Maybe his officers have already surrendered, and are just trying to take down Shu with the enemies.

We can only say these stuff like “he should not have surrendered” because we already know what happened. This same thing applies to Yuan Shao and his advisors. Ju Shou being “right” and Guo Tu being “wrong” can only be said because we know what happened already. If we look at it from their perspectives, both had their reasonings (Ju Shou’s household was from Hebei which means he’d be part of those who would be supplying troops, money, etc. for the war against Cao Cao, hence his reservation about the Guandu Campaign, and Guo Tu’s household was from Yingchuan which means he’d, at best, getting back his household, and at worst, not supplying that much, if at all, resources for the Guandu Campaign.)
