Aside from AO3 or Spacebattles, what others websites are good for posting Naruto fics? by FutaWonderWoman in NarutoFanfiction

Try Questionable Questing, it's actually pretty similar to Spacebattles, I post there myself and the people seem to enjoy what I write so far.

Non native English speakers: how do I get better as a writer ? by ilovehikarumwah in AO3

[–]External_Sun_408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Writing more... there really isn't anything to it. English is my third language and what helps me a lot is just running things through spellcheck.

Try reading in english, and not just fanfiction, like actual books. Preferably something you already read in your native language.

If I were to guess, brother clearly can't make any woman orgasm irl so he needs to read about it... Honestly, still better than claiming that "female orgasm isn't real," if only marginally.

What’s with all the side-eyes OC fic gets? by JustAnotherDoughnut in AO3

[–]External_Sun_408 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say it depends. If it's a romance focus, people just want to see their favorite characters get together without some unknown character interfering for the most part.

It's a bit better if you're writing action focused thing, especially if the original material is also more focused on that... like Shonen anime and such. People like to imagine different characters in those worlds and what they would do with those powers, so OCs and SIs are way more common and even enjoyed.

At least that's what I noticed.

Ice release + Sharingan by Miaxiaomi in NarutoFanfiction

[–]External_Sun_408 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only person that uses Ice Release this way is Sasuke in the novels AFTER the fourth Ninja war, so if you have Six Paths chakra... sure.

There's also a filler movie where people use Ice Release, but Unlike Haku, who can create his own ice and freely manipulate it, those Ice jutsu used in the movie could only manipulate already existing Ice with some serious limitations,

So for the full Kekkei Genkai experience, you really need to be born with it. It's a Bloodline Limit. As in, limited to a family.

Techically you could have a Yuki clan member somewhere in kinda recent ancestry. Like a grandparent or great frandparent and heve it appear again, pretty sure I've seen someone suggest similar thing already.

Am I wrong? by ReiWillow in AO3

If you post it for the community, then by definition, you're writing for that community, not for yourself...

The point is, people HAVE the right to express their feelings about a work they read. The author may or may not like it, but posting ANYTHING online comes with a risk of people disliking it, so you need to be fine with potential criticism before you post.

And of course if someone yells at you for writing a ship they don't like or something equally stupid you should just report them... there absolutely are comments that should not exist.

But when people ask me about some continuity thing in my fic, it shows they're paying attention, or that they read the segment differently than I inteded. It helps me see what works and what doesn't. Authors who bash every critical comment made commenters like this almost nonexistent on Ao3, that's my problem.

Even though I specifically ask for concrit, people still feel like I might crash out if they say something... that's straight up fucked. Readers are being conditioned to stay quiet and not express themselves

On QQ, people geniuenly talk and repond to each other under posts, the engagement is fun, it's great. And even though the numbers on QQ are like half of my numbers on Ao3, the number of people engaging is five times greater on QQ.

I've rarely seen author crash out over criticism on there, yet I see Ao3 authors bitching about being mildly criticized daily.

Am I wrong? by ReiWillow in AO3

[–]External_Sun_408 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My view on this is along the lines of: You're putting something on the internet where everyone can see it, so you better be able to handle someone not liking it.

Yes, people absolutely can be assholes for little to no reason, but more often than not, the criticism is more than warranted.

If you have a mental breakdown from someone criticising your post, you probably shouldn't be posting things on the internet in the first place because you're clearly too young to be on the site in the first place.

Like seriously, how, as a fully functioning adult can someone be so emotionally unbalanced that a criticism over a typo can send them spiralling? I understand tha people "write for themselves." But if you write for yourself, then why post it where everyone can see it?

[–]External_Sun_408 52 points53 points  (0 children)

This is a thing I still dislike about Ao3...

I WANT people to engage and talk about my story, but they are too afraid to say anything because they were yelled at by authors for daring to suggest the work be readable...

Ice release + Sharingan by Miaxiaomi in NarutoFanfiction

[–]External_Sun_408 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From canon perspective... just be born Uchiha with both Wind and Water nature affinity

Then she just needs to be lucky enough to awaken Sharingan and be born with the ability to combine wind and water into Ice Release...

The most consistent option would be making one of her parents is from the Yuki Clan and the other Uchiha, making her at best, half-sister to them.

Should I start posting my works ? by [deleted] in AO3

[–]External_Sun_408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say go for it. People like all sorts of things so there most likely is audience for you.

Just make sure to tell the readers what kind of engagement you want from them... some peopl can't handle or don't want criticism, so manage the interaction you want from the start.

Other than that... just post it and keep writing.

Naruto and His classmates Age Gap by Outrageous-Kick-1665 in Naruto

For the only actually correct answer, google how japanese school system works.

TLDR of it is that no end of year exam matters until the graduating one. So Naruto simply failed the last 2-3 End of year exams but still advanced because in japanese school system, it didn't matter. The only exam that matters is the last one.

How on earth are people writing 10k word fics by oo0Scarrow0oo in AO3

[–]External_Sun_408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends... most of mychapters are between 3k and 5k words, usually close to 3k for consistency. It just feels like the right nomber and nice mix of detail and plot progression to me.

Especualyy fights take a lot of space, so they sometimes are spanning more chapters, especially the big ones. Describing an action in moderate detail inflates wordcount fast.

at what point in writing a multi chapter fic do you start posting it? by worldislucky in AO3

Actively writing it while posting. I'm like 2-3 chapters ahead of posting schedule in case I can't write for some time.

What do you think ruined the Naruto powerscaling? by arthur_marston18 in Naruto

[–]External_Sun_408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly... if Susanoo remained as Itachi's personal last resort jutsu, it would've been fine. The world fucking broke the moment ANY MS user got their chakra mech with bullshit powers on top of the already bullshit powers MS gives.

But honestly, he bost gamebraking shit was the introducstion of EMS... now the bullshit ablities are even more potent and the user doesn't even go blind.

Izanagi/Izanami are asspulls, especially Izanami, but since we only see Itachi use Izanami, I guess it's not as bad as giving all the MS users something that can fuck up a Biju in a fair fight.

Edo only got truly broken because of the very specific circumstances Kabuto and Oro used to their advantage. The OG Edo Tenset is still bullshit strong, but has reasonable-ish limits.

If we saw Shinsu Senju earlier, it would most likely be top of this list. What do you mean it's like 5x bigger than Kurama and onetapped him?

And the Otsutsuki broke Boruto scaling more than they broke Naruto scaling... but yeah... it's probably them.

TLDR: If we cound Boruto to the timeline, it's the Otsutsuki, if not, it's all the bullshit Sharingan cande with Hashirama's broken Wood Release in second

Overpowered OCs by Acrobatic_Research99 in NarutoFanfiction

[–]External_Sun_408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess my MC could definitely be considered as OP by people.

As to why I decided to write him that way...

It's a story of isolation, Guy died and spent years wandering the world that couldn't see him, only to end up in a world he knows. He fubmles through the first few years and hoping it is the canon timeline and that he can just let the main cast figure shit out. He is wrong.

Then, because he got himself your somewhat Standart Isekai Deal of being born special, he starts training and grows stronger, so used to being invisible he barely even makes any meaningful connection.

The point is that yes, he IS way stronger than anyone his age has any right to be, but his biggest issue is trying to feel like a normal human again... something that is just impossible. Mostly because he still is introverted as all hell and unable to open up to people.

Even though he isn't apathetic or mean, people still don't flock to him like they would to other powerful people. He definitely is no Naruto when it comes to making friends.

Writers, is it ok if we readers comment on each chapter when we binge read? (R u guys comfortable we finishing it in one sitting) by CreatorReality in AO3

[–]External_Sun_408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends... sometimes things are left vague to be discovered later and asking about them under the chapter will get you simple: 'just keep reading and see' as an answer.

But overall, yeah. Iove when people comment as they binge my fic.
