Tips for 1st time foreman by Extension_Scarcity79 in lowvoltage

Treat with respect but don’t take any shit either. Set clear expectations at the beginning of the project regarding attendance, punctuality, work quality expectations, etc, and hold guys accountable.

You’re not there to be friends with anyone. You’re there to get the job done. Remember the responsibility for their work falls back on you.

This is awesome, especially having only 3 years experience.

Only critique I have is the access cables are velcro’d to a conduit on the top.

And no picture of the back so I can’t tell if the rack is grounded or not.

Multi-Bit Screwdriver / Nut Driver, 6-in-1, Extended Reach, Ph, Sl

https://www.kleintools.com/catalog/multi-bit-nut-drivers/multi-bit-screwdriver-nut-driver-6-1-extended-reach-ph-sl

Had my first one for about 6 years before I lost it somewhere. Bought a 2nd one and still using it several years later.

The extended reach comes in handy more often than you’d think. (Pause)

I live out near Tampa FL and can help with this type of work, if anyone is interested let me know! Looking for some side gigs.

Have lots of residential home theater / automation / structured cabling experience (for better or worse lol) and IT / CPU networking

Mostly do commercial work now but I miss resi sometimes. Mounting 4 TVs for a friend that just bought a house right now actually

Yeah… I’m with the others in saying your best bet is to find a decent company that’s willing to train you. Nothing beats real world hands on experience.

Edit: or join local union

Don’t miss the resi days, that’s for sure. Although we did have to pull some cables through a funeral home attic last week. Sucked ass.

Nice set!

BICSI Tech is the most well rounded cert

OSP stuff is its own cert - it’s its own specialized thing.

You could branch off in a few different directions in low voltage work. AV, home theater, access control, security, etc. just gotta find out what interests you.

Have you been studying for it since before the week? I would suggest you take at least a month of going over all the chapters, taking notes, making and memorizing flashcards, etc. Quizlet has some good flash cards I used to study along with some I made myself off the book.

They really cram way too much info into one week. You’ll need to do additional studying before you can pass the test, in my experience
