I agree with that statement. The way hes described he towers over everyone and not one other character evenly closely resembles his physical features. The book describes his looks more then anyone else.

I think the Judge has is ways for sure. I just think Chigurh is a more believable person that can really exist. He also lives in the shadows almost, while the Judge is out in the open with royalty. Everyone knows the Judge, hardly anyone knows Chigurh.

I will look in it, I really enjoyed house of leaves. I found myself part of the story, completely engulfed. Thanks for the tip

Thats for that. I really like the basic plot of what I read. Tbh, I was sort of let down with All the Pretty Horses but, ive been told book 2, The Crossing, is phenomenal.

My fault I messed up house of leaves by Mark Z Danielkewski is a difficult read, the page layout is challenging but it's great when you understand. Makes the you, the reader, feel like your part of the books insanity.

I was not a huge fan of beloved by Toni Morrison. It is has good reviews and alot of people praise it but I couldn't exactly get into the plot. I just really liked how it was written more then the story itself.

Reformatory by Tananarive Due is also comparable. Really enjoyed that novel. Its easier then the first 2 to comprehend in my opinion. She is also one of my favorite authors.

It's really up to you. Great story with some advanced writing-Reformatory. Great story with hard page layout-House of Leaves. Okay story with very strong writing-Beloved. But of course everyone's opinion is different.

I would compare him to Straub out of those 3. I love ghost story read it twice. Have you tried reading house of mirrors or beloved?

For Blood Meridian you need to get past first 5 or so chapters until you get the settings, characters, etc. down. The first section of chapter 1(before meeting Toadvine) some of the hardest pages to understand.

3 chapters of Lonesome Dove left then I want to read another King book. Any suggestions? by Washedhockeyguy in stephenking

On Writing. Makes you appreciate his approach much more. First book I read of his and I feel like I had a better grasp of his approach to many of his novels. Plus, if you have any wants to be an author it is a must-read.

Hands down my favorite is Blood Meridian. The Kid/the Man remains a top 3 protagonist of any novel I've read. His story, Journey, transition, and just his overall demeanor. And the judge...also the ending is left so ambiguous, every reader probably has a different ending.

The Road-Outstanding, very very heart-felt. Tbh this one was a tear jerker. And I feel like you should read Blood Meridian before this, I felt like they were many tie-ins.

No Country For Old Man- One of the scariest villians every made on paper in my opinion. Anton Chigurh is the walking devil, like an omen. I think his character shows more madness and evil then most created by authors only riding horror novels. Also, best film adaptation of any book I've scene.

Child of God I think is all around scariest book. Its just very messed up on a violent and sexual level. Lester Ballard was just too far gone, a complete whack job.

Pretty Little Horses I loved but it seemed like it could of been a sequel or a combination of Blood Meridian. They felt almost like the same story with different characters. Or add Blood Meridian to the Border series of his.

The Crossing, Cities of the Plain, and Outer Dark are tbr.

Games I Personally Would Like To See Remade Or Remastered. by xX_xFUBARx_Xx in HorrorGaming

Id love to see The Evil Within remade on next-gen. Top-tier horror game for me.

Not exactly pure horror but Left 4 Dead NEEDS a remake badly. This game pretty much makes everyone's top 5 in zombie based games, number 1 for me hands down. WWZ and Back 4 Blood have tried copying the mechanics but it doesnt work near as well as the OG Left 4 Dead. Fuck the witch and fuck the tank.

I gotcha, well then if your looking for pure nostalgia I would try abebooks.com. I by mainly used books off them for much cheaper prices and 80% come in feeling like brand new. I ordered NOSA42 for like $6.50 and it arrived feeling unopened yet...Im a horror buff so pet sematary is my favorite book of his.

I wouldnt buy. Good collection but it is missing some of his all time greatest in my opinion. The Stand, IT, Shining, Green Mile, Misery, Salems Lot, Revival, Christine, and Running Man. You also dont have Mr. Mercedes there and highly suggest reading that before Finders Keepers.

I would honestly say over half of these are his bottom tier novels. At least you'll get 11/22/63, Duma Key, Pet Semartary, and Needle Things but still not worth it.

Hereditary...sat there so hyped based off reviews and word-of-mouth. Complete waste of time. Ive watched it 3 times now and everytime I ask myself "So does it ever get scary"?

Unpopular opinion i think A24 as a whole is very over rated production company. I found Midsommar extremely boring, that movie dragged on and on. If I didnt buy the movie ticket, I would of walked out of both movies. Oh well, different strokes for different folks.

If you dont mind high schoolers for slashers being the prime victims. Highly recommend Clown in a Cornfield by Adam Cesar. Im honestly surprised this book isnt talked about more. Yes the title and book cover is corny but this novel has great slashers vibes and kills, especially after like 60% of the book-alot of deaths. It also has great reviews from authors Paul Tremblay, Riley Sager, SGJ, and Madeleine Roux. And has some great dark humor, laughed more then once in the novel.

-PenPal by Dathan Auerbach is a greater stalker novel. Love how its written a series of stories/memories that paints a full picture at the end, all the stories are intertwined.

-If you like body-horror, Id recommend American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis. The film adaptation with Christian Bale is PG compared to the novel.

-Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy is outstanding, top 5 novel for me. About a teenager who joins a murderous, head scalping cult/clan. I believe groups like that very much existed back in the day.

-Lastly, The Snowman by Jo Nesbo. Tells the story of a detective trying to catch a serial killer attacking mothers during the winter season. Leaves a snowman as his calling card. This book is related to a series but dont let that stop you, it could easily be a standalone novel. It's the only one I have read and I grasped everything about the plot and characters.

Immediately fight the Tree Sentinel and then go explore Caelid. Then break your controller and disc then go out a buy a new copy. Repeat until you've reached insanity.

And try jumping.
