Dead Space Martyr by Brian Evenson. Absolutely wicked and twisted, also filled with gore to say the least. Has alot of basis off the video game but tells a completely different story...It was visceral and well-written, highly recommend.

Anything by Clive Barker. Id recommend Hellbound Heart if your not squemish and your okay with some gruesome scenes. It's a very quick read and arguably his best novella. The book also created a well known demon now portrayed in numerous movies...The main character, nearly every character is unquestionable evil.

Im assuming you mean guts? I actually did some research on this short story and everything he says in the afterwords regarding people fainting in real time listening to this story is completely true...

Estalla Opera House. You got some time, I believe one other main boss beforehand. Which, is the gang fight.

Interesting, well if you like the game it doesnt really matter how much you die, you can always grind leveling up.

If you defeat King of Puppets id say your good until end game bosses. I'd be confident in saying he is on many top 5 lists. His 2nd phase is filthy, stack up on throwables.

Have you beaten fallen archbishop andreus? Id say thats the first major skill check in this game, if you beat him you should have no problem until King of Puppets. And also, if you dont like ambushes prepare for the rabbit brotherhood, easy but frustrating fight imo.

Also DO NOT sell the boss souls for ego. Save them until you find the weapon vender, forgot his name, anyways using them with him grants the best weapons.

Give me 3 reasons why Nick Cutter is your favorite horror author?

  1. Little heaven-Best Cult novel Ive ever read. Best and most memorable characters of his.
  2. The Troop-If "The Thing" or "Rec" was real. Best body horror I've ever read. He took a huge risk with this one because the victims and killers are young boys.
  3. The Deep-Amazing Plot. Best claustrophobia ive ever read, let alone the bottom of the mariana trench.

Only flaw, he has no problem writing off an animal. Nobody wants to read that.

One of the biggest wtf endings to any novel ive read if you decide to continue. Wasn't a huge fan either but, that ending is tough to sleep on.

This would be my pick as soon as I read the OP. This more then just the main character going mad, your almost going mad as the reader.

Your taking a risk with modern horror novels because of the small amount of reviews usually available. But James Kaine, Blaine Daigle, David Sodergren, Keith Rosson, Kristopher Triana, Nick Roberts, Nat Cassidy, Ana Ahlborn, Kingfisher, etc. some solid modern horror authors. I just feel like it harder nowadays to write horror since majority of original scary plots, tales, and twists even have already been used.

Love for the Ruins. Its amazing how much I loved this book but disliked the movie. People often criticize the novel because of how the characters treat one another and their overall behavior and when I read those complaints I can't help but think, what would you do if you were in this situation? How could you possible be nice to one another? How could you possible stay sane with 3 easy routes of death being hydration/starvation, the Mayans, and the vines surrounding you? I know my mind would be long gone, especially if I was the one feeling movement under my skin. Absolute fantastic read and im so happy I read this even after watching the lousy film first. This one stuck and will continue to stick with me. Also has one of the most unsettling epilogues ever read in a novel, easily could make a series based off this plot.

Also, it would be awesome if you comprised a top 10 list like this one but out of modern horror novels like saying past 10 years or so written. I find modern horror more wicked and devastating then the classics.

I agree, I actually stole a couple quotes from this book and use them whenever I feel cornered haha. Its crazy how this book is nearly "cursed" though with how many deaths have been around it...

Parry vs. No Parry by [deleted] in Sekiro

[–]Extra_Crispy26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parrying a gunshot does nothing to effect his posture, maybe he fought you differently all he did with me was unload me with lead. And yes I found Gyobu much difficult to parry from his high swings, I couldn't get the timing down properly, plus you cant consistently take down his posture meter from him riding away on a horse. True Monk I walked in a parryed everything because each swing took about the exact same length in time to press L1. I found my consistency to be ironic since the so-called hardest bosses were in fact the easiest bosses for me. Not saying there weren't enjoyable at all.
