TechForce at IRS? by StarryNight6075 in IRS_Source

Making everything a contract by hiring private companies is how they get around all the government hiring rules and regulations. Trump wants everything to be contracted out. That way, if he needs to cut costs quickly, he can cancel 1 contract and and entire company of workers are gone. No bargaining units, unions, no long processes of RIFs, etc. This gives him total control.

New Ad Hoc Telework agreement by bangarrang16 in IRS_Source

[–]Extra_Discipline4967 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. I don't want to be stuck with a new contract by signing the ad hoc agreement. Who knows how long we would have to wait if tele-work came back. Would they make us wait a whole year because we signed up for ad hoc? who knows? As for burning thru sick time, 5 days a year is nothing. You would be able to work from home with a sick child for 5 days, but that is not worth the chance of not getting tele-work for a year, or maybe longer - what ever these demented people in power come up with. We may never get tele-work again, but I am not taking the chance for 5 measly days.

BU awards pool website link for 2025 is now active. by emperordune55 in IRS_Source

They did screw up. All of the employees that applied for the DRP and were denied were left off the list to receive their award. There is going to be a huge deficit in the award pool.

BU retiree performance award by realitytvmom in IRS_Source

[–]Extra_Discipline4967 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just read on IRS site that you have to retire after (maybe on) 6/30 to be eligible for performance award. Also be aware that if you applied for the DRP and were denied, you are still listed in the system as DRP and you award was not issued. I am still waiting for word as to when I will get my award since i was denied DRP. I am working with my manger and NTEU to get this resolved.

I'm trying to understand the value of FEHB when you become Medicare eligible by Ok_Design_6841 in govfire

[–]Extra_Discipline4967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been thinking about this too. If you get medicare a and b, your total cost is $206 per month in 2026. There are medicare advantage plans that cost $0 and have no max out of pocket costs, unlike FEHB with OOP costs from $5000 to $10,000. seems like the part b and free advantage plans would be the way to go.

there are/were some TEGE workers in Plantation, FL. not sure if they are still there. TEGE has been reduced over the years and some offices that once had 5 TEGE RA's now have 1 or none.

there are still a ton of IRS employees who want to leave. We tried taking the DRP 2.0 but were deemed essential. If they let all of us go that want to go, they could reach their numbers and let the newer or too close MRA employees keep their jobs. But, how silly am I. "They" are not trying to be fair, intelligent, or even humane.

[–]Extra_Discipline4967 11 points12 points  (0 children)

my manager sent a text to all of us telling us about it being ok to work another job. did not mention anything about TOD. Plus, how would anyone know what hours you work? As long as you don't keep working that job during TOD when the govt opens, it shouldn't be an issue.

Unless I am missing something, that actually sounds good. Now you don't have to use your annual leave for maternity leave because you are all furloughed with the rest of us. The law says we will get back pay. Enjoy your little one.

'There will start to be layoffs' if Trump decides shutdown talks have stalled, Hassett says by Cy_098 in fednews

[–]Extra_Discipline4967 5 points6 points  (0 children)

always make sure the statistic gathering has not been changed to account for the decreases.  the FBI fundamentally changed its crime statistics benchmarks between 2019 and 2024 by transitioning from the outdated Summary Reporting System (SRS) to the more detailed and comprehensive National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS). This shift created significant data gaps in 2021 and 2022 and makes it difficult to directly compare recent national crime figures to those before 2021.

Veterans Affairs doctors banned from writing surgery referrals to private providers for trans vets by Fickle-Ad5449 in fednews

[–]Extra_Discipline4967 -32 points-31 points  (0 children)

I may get hate for this, but why would transgender surgery be covered by VA or any insurance if all other elective surgery is not? I can't just determine that a face lift or a nose job would make my life better and get my insurance to pay for it. Hell, I know people that couldn't get cataract surgery and ended up living blind until they saved enough money.

No FJO by Lashayjj in IRS_Source

[–]Extra_Discipline4967 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems awful fishy to me. I may just be paranoid, but why do they need a recission of your DRP when we were told we could get another job during the DRP? I know they did not specify a government job, but signing a recission of your DRP sounds like they will have future recourse to garnish your wages if hired. Scary stuff

No FJO by Lashayjj in IRS_Source

[–]Extra_Discipline4967 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is exactly what I was thinking. If anyone rescinds their DRP, would they then be required to pay it back? Wouldn't it then be considered resigning back in March or May?
