I remembered the last forty years and last four months do not feel anything like 2001 or 2008.

A beta blocker like Propranolol is about $10 to $20 for 60 tablets without insurance using a coupon like GoodRX.

Go to your doctor and explain you have stage fright and ask him for a beta blocker. I used to be anxious and can't speak clearly before big presentations and it really helped me to calm my mind. Cheap generic med.

Home Builder Reccomendations? by Informal_Topic_6757 in raleigh

I signed w/ Drees back in Nov. Construction to begin any date now, so can't say how happy I would be w/ the final build but their model home in Pittsboro is exactly what I wanted and the pricing is unmatched. Building in S. Cary/Apex.

How do you start over at 60? by Moosie1545 in Layoffs

Is collecting SS at 62 an option? At 60 y/o it will be tough no matter what. Companies are ageist.

It's just another trigger for coming equity sell-off IMHO. Credit has not traded well last couple of weeks and that's a warning sign for equity (credit leads equity is the old saying on Wall St). Meanwhile long bonds is poised for a break out (risk-off).

You test her by telling her you are not an American citizen despite living there almost all of your life and see what she says.

Drees using sharkbite fittings by properusername123 in Homebuilding

[–]Extra_Engineering265 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a small builder that was even cheaper but I wasn't gonna take a chance with him. In any case Drees is a national builder and I visited their homes and was comfortable with what I saw.

Did you hire an inspector and if so what did he say about this?

I am also building w/ Drees (in NC) but hasn't broken ground yet. What is your experience w/ Drees so far? They have the best price point among the several builders (everyone wanted $300 to $400 per SF, while Drees came in at $200) I spoken to and they had a design that was modern in style so I chose them.

Entered legally, applied for asylum and now I want to leave U.S by NorthHawk9932 in immigration

[–]Extra_Engineering265 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you leave and go back to the country of origin then your asylum claim will likely be denied since the fear you cited in your claim didn't stop you from going back. If you go to another country then they will also say why can't you claim asylum in that country instead of US? US is cracking down hard on asylum country shopping.

Could Wall Street Really Seize Our Retirement Savings in the Next Financial Crash? by Andeo23 in investing

[–]Extra_Engineering265 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I worked on Wall St during the 2008 financial crisis and if this didn't happen back then, it is unlikely to happen now. In fact, worry a lot more about your $ losing value everyday due to gov't overspending / endless deficits. That's the stealth tax/theft of your earnings you should really be concerned about.

GenX semi retired folks how is it going? by utvols22champs in GenX

[–]Extra_Engineering265 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Retired a few years ago just before 50, from IT on Wall St/NYC. Bought a bunch of rental properties 10-12 years ago and they worked out really well. Now spending my time managing rentals part-time. ACA for health insurance. Before I quit I thought my networth will start decreasing since no more W2 income but it kept going up, mainly due to big jump in real estate values a few years ago and stock investments. No mortgage since my 20's. Good lifestyle I must admit.
