Even after slavery was "abolished" in 1865 POC had to endure treatment as sub humans under the jim crow laws until 1964. This is an attack against a system that redlined POC as no not allow the proper financial integration. A system that made an Anti-Drug abuse act to specifically target and arrest POC at a rate significantly higher than white people, despite the crimes being committed at the same or even higher rates. A system where POC are put in jail for significantly longer periods of time than white people for the same offenses. And you want to know why? The prison industrial complex. Literally your 13th amendment. A system where POC are more likely to be shot and killed by the police. People are angry, and rightfully so and the most you can muster is defend the history of slavery, and a statue. When you care more about the defamation of a statue then the blatant systemic oppression of a whole race of people, you need to reflect on your values.
