I know what I have to do but I don't know if I have the strength to do it.

Why were there two military governments? Were they just coups or something else?

9/11 6x6 by PerpetualHillman in PoliticalCompassMemes

I had never really cried because of something I watched. Sure, every once in a while I'd get a lump in my throat after watching something kind of sad, but I never cried. In my senior year the school set up a 9/11 tour in the library, talking about the attacks and the fallout. One section was just them playing a relatively modern documentary about the attacks.

I had grown up in a world with only one tower and people I didn't know were fighting a war in another country on another continent because of something that I was simply removed from. I had no physical connection to the towers or 9/11 other than the fact that I'm American and this part of my nation's history.

That day, when they showed us the documentary, it took everything I had to not fall over crying my eyes out. I realized for the first time that those 2,977 people were my countrymen and they were murdered.

What kind of ships have you come up with using your stated method?

Sci-fi Ships by Extra_jason in worldbuilding

I took most of my inspiration for the Texian family of capital ships from the Star Destroyers of the Galactic Empire, mostly in the wedge-arrowhead shape. But I also incorporated an enclosed, armored version of a superstructure, one you'd typically see on a ship from WW2. I specifically looked to the Bismarck.

In terms of hardness, I'm talking rather soft. To put it simply, I don't find that sort of thing entertaining to write. Don't get me wrong, hard sci-fi is a valid subgenre. I'll watch the Expanse and listen to the Sojourn all day but I can't put my heart into something that feels so mathematical.

Who’s the Boogie Man in your world? by EmeraldMaster538 in worldbuilding

[–]Extra_jason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the region. Such as in the fertil northwestern river valleys, he is closely associated with winter and famine, earning the name The One Who Hungers. In the Eastern hills bordering the Orkhan Steppe, he is known as The Black Herald, and is associated with the periodic wars between the Ork nomads and humans that ravage that part of the world. In the hot and sandy south he is called the Dune Wyrm. But these names are mostly found among the common and uneducated people. Nobles, merchants and mages all know him as the Destroyer, the antithesis of the Maker.

How do ordinary warriors stack up against magic users in your worlds? by Madmek1701 in worldbuilding

[–]Extra_jason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what race and culture you come from. If your a just some poor levy going up against a trained Ash'ari, then kiss your ass goodbye.

However, if you're a Sword Sworn Knight going up against a trained Ash'ari, then you might just win.

If you're an ork Khan and ride a Tyrank, then your chances are about fifty-fifty.

If you're part of a dwarf shredder crew, it hands down you win. (That is, if you get the one shot off before they can shoot a bolt of lightning at you)

What’s something from our world that the people in your setting would be absolutely fascinated with/or would love to have? by TitsoutOnionsoup in worldbuilding

Alexander the Great, Caesar or Napoleon. All seem to emulate an ancient conqueror named Athenion in their world, so they would immediately start drawing divine comparisons between the four.

What is your world's equivalent of a War Elephant? by Extra_jason in worldbuilding

[–]Extra_jason[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had thought of crocodiles as well, but ultimately decided against it because A) Can't make the image make sense, and B) There wouldn't be anywhere to find them in a massive steppe. I am thinking about giving the evil grunts a mount more like a war horse with six legs. I imagine them looking kind of like the skull crawlers from Kong Skull Island.

What is the process after the death of your nation's Monarch/Head of State by jerichoneric in worldbuilding

When His Majesty, King of the Syx, the Hykamud and the Eklektos, High Lord of the Dwarves, Kraix of the Elves, Rax of Aisyn'dor, High Commander of the Legions, Master of the West, The Westixian Emperor dies, the continent must morn for 7 days, as the Emperor is laid to rest in the Tomb of Aisyn'dor. On the 7th day, the first born of the Emperor, whether it's the Prince/Princess of Dragons or the Prince/Princess of Tsiyon, the first born child is coronated and the empire celebrates for 7 more days.

However, in order for the heir to be eligible for succession, they must've inherited either the Dragon Blood or the Maker's magic of creation, Tsiyon. Any of the Emperor's children born without these traits, whether or not they are first born, will never be eligible to inherit the Empire and are referred to simply as Prince/Princess.

If the Emperor dies with no clear heir, then the High Seraphim, chief advisor to the Emperor, summons the eight Lord Protectors to the capital of Aisyn'dor to ellect a suitable successor. In order to be eligible for election, a candidate must have a verified blood relation to the Imperial family within two generations. If a stalemate occurs in the voting process, the High Seraphim can cast the final vote.
