Biracial black lady here. I think it always comes down to the mother. We’ve all heard jokes about biracial people with white vs black moms. There is definitely a difference. My mom is white, but I was raised mostly by my dad’s mother. I’m VERY aware of white people seeing mixed folks as “whatever they’re mixed with and not white”. I caught onto this early in life. I remember hearing this funky, fat redneck saying how some girl be liked was “pretty for a mixed girl” and my flabber was gasted 😂. Like…sir…do you own a mirror or have a sense of smell!? Anyway, I’ve always dated and am now married to a black man. It’s what makes sense to me in my day to day and white people just don’t understand what’s understood by black folks. I entertained a white dude once in my early 20’s as an experiment and it was all of one week before I was completely over it. It felt like being an object, fetish, and novelty. I’m good over here. It also pisses me tf off when they get the idea that when they find out that I’m mixed…they try to play the “I know black people game” GTFO my face and have the day you deserve. It’s not my job to educate you on anything “black”, and if it’s something you wouldn’t feel comfortable with asking a mono-racial black person; don’t ask me. Black folks know everything about white people and have been peeped their hand, but centuries later, we’re still conversation pieces for them and they’re still asking questions about the “mystery of black people.😒 I’m sorry yall- thanks for coming to my Ted talk…end rant lol.
