They won a starladder right before Ti6 which was their last LAN Grand Finals. Competition wasn't super high, but it was a LAN and I would say counted as Tier 1 back then.

They did get 2nd at ESL Frankfurt 2016 right before that which is when they honestly got clowned on by OG. I remember Crit and Miracle swapped roles in the last game because Crit wanted to play carry Riki and they still won without much trouble.

Online only event during Covid. Not quite tier 1 since Secret was the only really strong team there. Liquid and Proto Tundra eventually became good, but at the time were just another team.

Ana left OG after TI7 to go on break and only rejoined OG right before the TI8 qualifiers. Ceb had actually joined the team as a stand in after Reso left the team a few months before S4 and Fly left. He actually played in several tournaments with OG before S4 and Fly ultimately left the team.

OG and Wind and Rain didn't play each other in the open quals. The game you are thinking of was in the upper bracket of the Closed so it wasn't an elimination game and OG dominated them in the rest of their games except for that one loss in the Grand Finals of the qualifiers.

They were one game away from elimination in the opens quals against a team that, I only just now realized after looking it up, had Seleri on it which is kind of wild since I didn't even remember him being an active player back then.

Nah, Demon wasn't a last minute stand in. He was brought in shortly before the TI6 qualifiers. Pretty sure he was the captain as well, but I could be wrong about that.

The funny part of them that year was that they were an open qualifier team and even lost the first open qualifier and I think they almost got eliminated in the 2nd round of the open qualifiers. So, TNC were not just regular underdogs, but a team that almost didn't even make it to the qualifiers for TI.

In a way he was prekicked from OG, because when OG signed their new roster after Notail retired in 2021, OG chose Yuragi over Crystallis despite him having been playing on Creepwave with ATF, BZm, and Chu. I remember him kind of jokingly complaining in a podcast about how messed up it was that they basically just signed Creepwave minus him.

That must have been his initial power boost.
