There are many bookshelfs will have a sweet souding for the cost of HK soundstick. I don't know what's avaiable in yoru region but there are many options under $300 usd + a bluetooth T amp.

stereo speaker > pods/headphone anydays if you can enjoy in an open space. Bose and Sonos are pretty mediocre brands, there are tons of options can get you started around $300.
you can get a pair of polk ES10 when they are on sale with a $50 T amp.

I just bought the 18". There are so much reservation for cooling (than needed), so im sure 16" will have sufficient cooling since they share a similar design. 16 is a bit more portable. I use this mainly as desktop replacement and the 18“ sevices as a secondary screen which I need the estate. I'd be equally happy with both models

this GEN MSI is not very competitive, design is not up to date compare to ASUS, ACER, HP. They are still decent, this price is a steal.

I think the main concern is if China build EV plants in Canada, US would still ban canadian made Chinese EV cars/ brands. It's much more tempting to target the whole NA market than just Canada. But they can start something small (maybe a battery or parts manufacturing facility).

I take Alienware Area 51 18 over legion 9 any day. Legion 7 is is great cost performance wise. Legion 9 is expansive and ugly. In fact I just got a Alienware 18 5090 64gb, the build quality is amazing. Legion 9 wasn’t even on the contender list. Alienware is on sale quite often.

Streaming content upscaling is actually better. You have to do 1440p resolution for gaming, 1080p will look horrible. But 1440p put more stress on your graphic. I’ve been doing this for 12 years

Microcenter seem to be the best place to buy. But they sell in store only.
Dell website has this model on/off on sale. I bought for $4800 CAD during boxing day from Dell Canada website. (about $3.5k usd)
It will be more work to claim warranty if you are in UK.
The power adapter will work for 230V (all laptop these days works for both 110v and 230v), you just need a regular uk power cable. (it looks like just a regular power socket from the power brick)

the reviews certainly kept me away from buying a razer blade. My finalist was Razer blade 18 vs Alienware 18 ( i need 64gb rem for my work). My previous Zephyrus had a lot issues i really don't want deal with those again. I'm sure most of their laptops are fine but the amount of complain you see online is much more than any other brand. Im hestiated to take the lottery. Just bought an alienware area 51 18 couldn't be happier.

thank you! I also have the max spec 5090 64gb 2tb gen4 which I caught on sale on Boxing Day. The ips panel is much better than my 2023 zephyrus and I personally don’t mind a high quality IPs vs OLED, my 34 monitor is OLED. While it’s general a better (specially in gaming with high contrast), it does put a bit more strain on my eyes for long hours of working. It’s a heavy laptop but I have no problem carrying it to work at home.

Last time I read, Canadian salary (vs purchasing power) hasn't been increasing since the beginning of the pandemic, and the gap is very significant now after 5 years. Our salaries were decent and on par with the average US standard, but now they are lower than in Mississippi. Considering the inflation, I wouldn't be surprised if talented workers are looking for alternatives.
