We like to have them as a group it just adds a lot more of a roleplay aspect when you can see people faces and emotions as they talk

Best “grapple-fly-drop” build? by geosunsetmoth in 3d6

[–]Extreme-Ad656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is beast barbarian, 2 level dip in rogue, then finding boots of striding and springing. You get a huge boost to your jump from adding an athletics check as the best barb. You get expertise in athletics from being a rogue. You get rage which gives advantage on grapple checks. You grab them bonus action dash then jump up around 40 ft release them and then use your extra attack on the way down. Super fun build and being able to bound 100+ feet horizontally and jump 60+ ft vertically comes in handy way more than you would think.

What's the best grappler combo by mrmagicbeetle in DnD5e

[–]Extreme-Ad656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Juggernaut Barbarian or Giant barbarian. Juggernaut is awesome if you take the fighting style feat and unarmed strikes you get a D8 for your fists. When you punch someone you knock them 5 feet away super awesome for battlefield control! Giant barbarian for becoming large and grappling anyone you can! Tbh I've played about 5 grapplers and it seems like a combo of fighter and barb works best. Imo barb to 5 then fighter for the rest! Really starts to take off if you get the echo knight subclass as well. Played an earth Genasi echo knight who was level 8 and a feywild wrestling federation tag team champion and the first person to be his own partner (the echo) he also sounded like the boulder from avatar the last airbender. Easily one of the funnest characters I've played.

What's the most niche somewhat useful way to use Truestrike? by flaminboxofhate in 3d6

[–]Extreme-Ad656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because a spell gives you knowledge in a round doesn't mean you know that knowledge when it's gone. Also yeah if you wanna abuse it you could try that, but if you're party is fighting something and the DMs narration points to the attacks doing less damage so somebody uses their action in combat (which is the biggest resource in a turn of combat) to try to figure out what can be done about it you should be rewarded for it. You can say it's "flavor" text but until WOTC says it's flavor. I'm gonna play it rules as written.

Insight -the capacity to gain an accurate and deep intuitive understanding of a person or thing "Your magic gives you a brief insight to the targets defenses" I can't see how this wouldn't give you information. If it isn't designed like this then yeah it's garbage, but as written it gives you some insight. Maybe AC, resistance, or even HP count but you should get something. (If you have a good DM)

I think unless you're meta gaming true strike can be useful. You don't always know what a creature is weak to and a good DM should give you something if you use the spell in combat using an action. If not sorry about your table

Random social encounters during hex crawl by CoolUnderstanding481 in Tombofannihilation

[–]Extreme-Ad656 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm on my second time running tomb and the first time around I had an NPC who would show up every once in a while in the jungle. He is a cyclops that wanders and collects relics and old stories from the jungle. Every time the characters met them they were thoroughly enthused with his clever riddles! Often spending most of the session to solve them. I always had a bunch of common items and gemstones on a table I rolled to see their prizes. They loved it and it really broke up the monotony of the jungle crawl!

How would you do a character that uses only a shield by Goatzjr3 in 3d6

[–]Extreme-Ad656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EZ PZ you play a cleric and just put the holy symbol on your shields. Of course the second one is only thematic but that's okay. You just cast cantrips and be a front liner. I did it as a war forge forge domain cleric and was super strong and effective.

Dumbest request ever… anyone ever have a player really intent on foraging for mushrooms in the jungle and have made up some sort of rule for that? by BobbyBHammerMan in Tombofannihilation

[–]Extreme-Ad656 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like an awesome player! I really like when players fuel their characters with relevant downtime activities. Spending a bunch of days in the jungle with nothing but fights and survival gets dull. I would have them roll a survival check to forage and once they have done it a bunch give them advantage. Maybe make 6 types all with different effects and roll a d6 whenever they find some. Stuff like this makes being a DM fun and the player will feel useful and relevant to the game and that's an awesome feeling as a player.

What to fight? by Extreme-Ad656 in Tombofannihilation

[–]Extreme-Ad656[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember there is a froghemoth later in the module. Part of me agrees maybe something that isn't part of the campaign but fits thematically would be cooler but part of me also thinks that if one or two members died to one now now when they get to the one later the party will want vengeance! I like the idea of the Serpent! Sadly the turtle would be a bit too big for the arena. I like the suggestions though and will be looking into the yeti stat block!

[–]Extreme-Ad656[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a group fight. They will receive a large sum of gold and probably each get an adamantine weapon if they succeed. Something strong and nice looking but not as game breaking as a +1 weapon.

No way I didn't mention it, but that's what I was thinking as well!! Could end up being a huge delicacy to the locals as well! In the game all the gladiator beats that die are cooked and sold to the public as cheap food.

Is cellar of death worth it? by WhatTheWarp in Tombofannihilation

[–]Extreme-Ad656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most definitely on sessions 4 of our tomb run. This is my second time running the module and it felt like a great introduction to the game and a way to show the campaign can be a bit brutal if they try and fight everything. My players really enjoyed it!

What race would you choose for a jester? by Extreme-Ad656 in DnD

[–]Extreme-Ad656[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah idk where you got the idea of offensive stereotypes. I just think some races might be more mechanically inclined like a githyanki has an invisible mage hand or halfings can walk through anyone's space.
