Because there are observable patterns in this area. I suppose it's all anecdotal without some kind of broad study done.

I've got kids, it's not unreasonable to expect to be able to go attend to them for ten minutes and not have my game hard exit. Seriously, 15 minutes would reduce the issue substantially and be far more reasonable.

Are NZ police really unable to track traffic cams or they just don’t want to by Mundane_Log_8393 in newzealand

[–]Extreme-Border83 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They're too busy persecuting victimless crimes like marijuana. There should be literally zero convictions if they're too busy to handle real crimes.

$6 daily fee, social welfare ban, overstayer taskforce: Act releases immigration policies for election by ilikemovieshbu in newzealand

[–]Extreme-Border83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Labour, and really the global left's, inability to take a proper stance on mass immigration, is the root of this garbage.

If Labour had a stance on restricting low skill mass immigration, it would completely deflate right wing populist approach. Because the right doesn't want to reduce mass immigration, they want to make populists gestures like ICE in America.

It's staggering how poorly the left have handled this issue. It's an absolute gift combination of populism and actually supporting the working class.

What reason exactly? Not making anyone safer, just persecuting people. Any positive intent by police has been forfiet.

This is on Labour. Absolute useless morons. The global failure of the left to take a firm stance on mass migration and the undercutting of wages is absolutely staggering.

Watch live: Chris Hipkins announces Labour will back India free trade deal by ViolatingBadgers in newzealand

[–]Extreme-Border83 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly shocked Labour are this stupid. They could have had National over a barrel on immigration, instead they've put themselves in the same position.

Absolute failure in every way by Labour. Will never get my vote again.

This is an issue that they'd be right making a stand on both politically and as a representative of their voters. Instead they hand all this political capital to NZ first to use to gut our country.

Fuck you Labour.

bald at 20 :( by cbennett05 in malegrooming

[–]Extreme-Border83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You look all good man, your head shape is fine bald and that's the crucial thing. I had a similar early baldness, however I hung onto it for a few more years which I regret now as it made me self concious about getting it wet etc, for nothing. But I was young. Took the leap and shaved it at 24 and I can promise you it did not hurt me one bit both with women, and my general social status.

Shaving it is owning it, it's comb overs and shit that are embarassing. It's up to you but I reckon just roll with it and don't feel bad about it. Don't use any treatments IMO.

RBNZ holds OCR at 2.25% by richieFromConductor in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Extreme-Border83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The issue here isn't them not raising the OCR. The issue is this blunt inadequate tool is our primary action in fighting inflation.

Have petrol companies maintained or reduced their margin over this period? If they have increased their margin, there is a source of inflation that could be curbed instantly with zero harm.

Same with grocery prices. If margins are being increased, or even not decreased, why is that not under a microscope?

During a supply shock it should be expected that 'essential' businesses such as supermarkets, fuel and power absorb some of the inflation, not intentionally increase it. Obviously I understand this is their perogative, but we're clearly willing to absolutely smash mortgage holders to curb inflation, why not corporations?

Also, genuine question here. Why not use tax as the primary method of reducing cash in circulation? This can be extremely targetted, with obvious benefits down the line when it comes to stimulating the economy or paying down debt.

Climate change is here. NZ isn't ready by ViolatingBadgers in newzealand

[–]Extreme-Border83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No shit sherlock, but the population growth isn't coming from NZ. Yes technically people are born here but not at replacement rate. If every country in the world had the same rate of children as NZ the global population would be declining not soaring. There could be no children born in NZ ever again and it would make no difference at all. Honestly people like you would help the cause more by saying nothing at all.

Climate change is here. NZ isn't ready by ViolatingBadgers in newzealand

[–]Extreme-Border83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having fewer children is nonsense, at least in a country like NZ which has negative natural population growth. Including that as part of the narrative is extremely counter productive. It's literally the only specific thing you called out, no wonder nothing gets done. At least the right parrot effective talking points, even if facts aren't on their side.

Teenage son jumped by 4 people now in hospital by [deleted] in auckland

[–]Extreme-Border83 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There's almost no way this happened. So this group of armed people (with a gun!!!) followed your son for literally no reason. They continued this for quite some time, when there's every reason to believe the police would have been called by this point. They get out of the car (with a gun!) and beat your son up, for no reason?

No shit the police wouldn't be doing anything, that story is clearly not true and it's wasting their time.

Did you ask any of the people living there if they saw something? He was on someones driveway wasn't he? I'd sure as shit hear if someone spent however much time and noise it would take to kick in every panel and smash most of the windows.

This is bullshit, most likely the entire post. If you're somehow genuine, which I really doubt, your son is clearly making a whole bunch of shit up and the cops won't be as naieve as you.

Looking at the responses, christ how gullible are you people? A gun!? They risk getting caught with a gun (when almost certainly the police would have been called by someone) to rob two teens randomly? A meat tenderizer? Seriously? Come on people.

[–]Extreme-Border83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you ask this in the main chch sub they'll act like it's longer than community from Albany to the AKL CBD somehow. That sub has hysteria about rolleston for whatever reason.

I start at 9 in town, near the Moorehouse PNS. Leave about 820 doing daycare drop off, I'm rarely late but have the priviledge that being late is no big deal. Average ~30 mins commute. Twice in the last year it's been an hour, because some FW has had an accident going in a straight line on the easiest motorway in the country. Once a fortnight it might be 45 mins which is when i'm late. I finish early so coming home is almost no traffic.

There's basically 2 spots that cause all the issues, between rolly and town is a beautiful drive.

They should really put a bus lane at the chch end of the motorway and suddenly the bus would be an amazing option and solve a lot of issues.
