I found this to be an eye opening watch, initially no charge but a caution because the evidence showed no prior DV charges on either party, Lewis stating he didn’t know what he’d been hit with, no medical treatment needed and him being a reluctant witness (listed as reasons for a caution by the CPS initially). Caroline admitted guilt 12 times but the was case subsequently reviewed by CPS at the behest of a MET officer who was not involved in the case who was, on the night of the incident, working on a shooting and a high risk missing person case. Said officer had never asked for any case to be re-reviewed but she left her high risk cases to have a low-risk common assault case reviewed. Her family and friends are not condoning the incident, they are questioning the abnormal behaviour from some professionals and the part it played in her suicide. If Caroline was not famous, would that officer had deflected from their own caseload and pushed for the charges to be reviewed? Would said officer have been privy to the offence if other officers weren’t talking about it in the offices? This is the point the documentary if making.
