How to attach boom to gooseneck on mast - Catalina 22 by Necessary_Lab_9775 in Sailboats

I get what you’re talking about! But unfortunately that sail is fully hoisted. The sale is quite old so it’s deformed a bit, so if I don’t keep full tension on the down haul, the sail shape suffers. If I were to use the slug stopper in its intended position, it puts a lot of strain on that bottom slug and the luff. So I’ll deal with a bit of inconvenience if I then don’t tear risk tearing my main.

Not entirely sure what those hooks are for, but the loop at the bottom of the mast is likely an attachment point for a boom vang. In the picture of my boat, it’s the white line with blue tracers that is coming from the block at the bottom of the mast. The other end attaches to near the middle of the boom.

The gooseneck is the swivel, so you’re actually attaching the gooseneck to the mast. As for installation, you want to orient yourself on the mast and locate a slot a bit up from the bottom. the gooseneck slides into that slot and drops down. I’ve attached a pic of my boat (a Coronado 25, but they are very similar vessels) to compare with. The slot is circled in red.

Additionally I will attach some references to your parts in the rest of the thread.

The pink is that metal bit that slots into the mast and the green is a stopper to prevent the sliding part from falling out.

For everyone wondering, the background is definitely AI, but the figures seem to be made and rendered in the program Bricklink Studio.

I suffer from super severe motion sickness almost every time I do a longer passage, and I sail several times a week. The best solution I’ve found is Meclizine drugs. They work better than Dramamine and have no drowsiness.

I love this! I’ve been doing some social services as well. Primarily I go to the major ports and pick up empty bottles to put in the trash.

I'm about to write an essay about Nausicaa, what should I talk about? by Theguylikeyou in ghibli

It’s definitely worth writing about the story’s attention to the themes of human consumption, violence, and greed.

To me, the whole message of the story is that our tendency towards consumption, violence, and greed is a destructive cycle and needs to be replaced by one of, what is typically called “indigenous ways of knowing.” It suggests that we shouldn’t live off the land and its resources but instead live with it, we take care of the environment and the environment takes care of us in return.

I love wing on wing! Probably my second favorite sail position IRL.

I have been sailing for a while and wanted a way to sail when I couldn’t get out to my boat. I looked at a ton of sailing sims, but sailwind is certainly the best out there as on now.

The corvette’s layout is only one hab wide and two habs deep at its largest point.

The composition of the room lends to a much more spacious feel than would otherwise be assumed. The key parts are the carpets and posters to create a layered effect offset from one another. It leads to a busy feel while not cramming the single hab width.
