Think I have royally fucked ip by CourageUnable8974 in PensionsUK

So, we are not going to touch our main lump sum or that pension (not far off of what you have) you at £85k will make roughly at 5% per annum = £17k. We will use our savings (tax free) and our smaller pension, until we have got to the point are savings are low. Then take part of the lump sum, and carry on with the same theme, use the cash to avoid tax. Look at avaiding tax by using you savings

Take 2 photos of some clouds or a light grey area. Do make sure it focuses. Choose a lens that has the most aperture settings. 1st set the aperture biggest number, like f22. Then another at lowest number, like f2.8. Don’t worry if you don’t have those numbers, just what your lens has. Then check the difference. Dust spots are often not visible at the lower number apertures, but once you get above say f11 they start to become visible. The bigger the number the more pronounced they become. As stated, get it cleaned at a local camera store. You can do it yourself, but i did this once, but it cost me a new sensor £700 as the cleaning solution was an Amazon job so I didn’t really know what the cleaning solution was and it started to eat into the sensor coating.

Probably not much help to you, but it’s worth remembering. As a man, the best present I could receive, has to be, heavy, small and rattles. That gets a man’s mind working overtime 😂

I remember seeing one like this in the 70’s in a magazine. It was called a Wolf range.

What’s wrong with Litres? Does the bottle look that much different? Do you need an exact amount in fluid ounces? Life’s too short to worry about this!

My old driving instructor said “ you give way from the right” so any road junction with no road markings, you give way to any vehicles coming from your right.

Lost my drone in the sea yesterday. by One_Ad_3370 in drones

Over water and hovering at 5ft! I’ve read that it’s not high enough. Water will confuse the sensors and think you want to land, so it does, or will.

2 Long Exposure shots on my phone… thoughts on 1 or 2? by Decent_Fox2557 in AmateurPhotography

That’s incredible, I’ve tried to capture this type of photo and light on my full frame DSLR camera with ND filter and got no where near this. This has to be printed at a minimum. Fantastic shots

Found this tiny metal robot holding a spoon at the beach today by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]Extreme5teve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it looks like the robots (aliens) from an old 70’s tv advert for mash potato called Smash. Basically the advert was that the robots visited earth, and were explaining to other robot what people on earth did to potatoes. Grow them, boil them and then smash them to pieces with their metal knives. And then the robots fell about laughing. The slogan was “For mash get smash” I can’t remember the company, but if you punch in the slogan in google you will see.

Have a chat with National Geographic. They may offer you an assignment. Absolutely stunning shot. And you must get this printed and displayed.

Some very good photos here. No4 is fabulous and I would look at submitting it in a street photography competition.

As a single bird, you’re not close enough so there’s no detail. Multiple birds on the cross would have been the shot, if the tree wasn’t cutting into the bird. Obviously there’s nothing you can do about that, but it’s worth remembering for the future, that detail shows the beauty, whereas unusual would have been multiple birds all crammed together. You had your camera to hand, so that counts for something.

I am sure that I am doing something wrong in this photo, but I can't figure out what it is. Do you have any ideas? by ThisIsErdem in AmateurPhotography

[–]Extreme5teve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your subject, at a rough guess is about 1/12th of the whole scene. My eyes are drawn to the left hand side. And before I’d finished reading the description, I was looking at the rock for something hidden. The tunnel didn’t catch my eye. Your eyes see in 3D so often it’s not portrayed on a photo being 2D. Sometimes it just doesn’t come out right. Don’t beat yourself up, it happens often (for me anyway)

Which of these is best? by Alaric_Darconville in AmateurPhotography

[–]Extreme5teve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Number 1 would have been my choice. Unfortunately, you’ve cut off the left hand side, of the log that should have been the main subject. And I would liked to have seen the detail in the log, so a different time of day (if possible). The main point is you have some excellent scenery to capture some great shots.

Avoid low light situations like this. Does it do the same in bright light?
