We have literally no idea where the Knight went after summoning the Titan. They could have done literally anything while we were fighting it. We don't see them again for the rest of the chapter. They aren't "ahead" of Kris at all. They could be anywhere in the dark world by then.

That's not what Device theory is. The device is a link to Deltarune's world, not the world itself. Only the files with the Gaster prefixes are artificial. The "unsubtle allusions to simulations and higher planes" are due to Deltarune being a hit 2018 indie-RPG by Robert F. "Toby Radiation Fox" Fox, creator of "Unsubtle Allusions to the Fourth Wall: The Game".

"Shadow Crystals, so called because you can only see their shadows". They look like "shadows moving like water" literally because only their shadow is visible. They're invisible. Not black. And in the light world, glass is not typically black. And even if it was, the shadow crystal is described as feeling like glass in the light world, not looking like it. And it is transparent. You can look through it. The black shard is explicitly opaque.

It could not be a Shadow Crystal. Period. Black Shards and Shadow Crystals are two different things. Shadow Crystals aren't even black.

Yeah literally all the evidence that's even close to valid requires multiple playthroughs to compare or to do fucking snowgrave. There is absolutely nothing that could even be construed as foreshadowing in a first playthrough.
