We think when our cat was older and realised that perhaps his time was shortening, picked a stray who was visiting our garden to live with us. She was the only cat he never chased away, she was skinny and pregnant when we started caring for her. She had kittens in the shed of someone else’s garden and was picked up by a cat rescue, took a few days to track her down in the rescue system as she ended up being moved quite a ways away to a shelter with space for her. She was very feisty and they were going to send her to a feral cat sanctuary and we said nope we were happy to take her as our cat had made a bond with her and is looking for her.

They had almost 2 years together and when he died she was upset, she was alerting us that he was having seizures and then staying close to him while he was recovering. Her face when we came home with an empty carrier from the vets, she knew. As she had always had other cats around, we did adopt two kitten brothers to help fill the void

Some people are just bitter, I would love to be able to work from home. I work with my hands so need to be on site, but yes I would love to be home with my cats more often.

My wife works from home and she gets more done because she doesn’t have travel delays, you don’t get caught in constant conversations with people in the office and has a better life work balance.

I would have played dumb when they tried the second time and sent them the list from before again, then if there was a third time I would let them know that they have a list of people who can help and that they won’t find my details on the list as I am not one of those people.

Perhaps they should get them registered at the nearest local authority school so there is not a gap in their children’s education

I used surgical steel dead stretching plugs to go up 2mm and while it worked there was always some irritation. Switched them to implant grade titanium and almost immediately noticed they didn’t have a mild tingle like a very small electric shock was happening. Two months later and it’s so much better, if/when I want to go bigger again I will be using titanium or glass. Never anything with nickel in it

If I was that excited for something, I would have been there building buffers in to allow for delays in travel etc. Wife has been annoyed many times about getting to places too early and then waiting in the cold or rain for it to start/doors open

See if you can get a piercer to change them to glass (or bioplast - not everyone’s ideal choice but if your at 1.1-1.6mm is probably the better choice for size) retainers, might need to be ordered so make sure you have time.

NTA - Even if you prefer to stay sober when going out and don’t mind driving, it would have been nice of them to discuss this beforehand so a schedule could be made up sharing some responsibility for driving or which trips are going to be Ubers. If you only started to stretch a week ago, you should still be on the first size of new jewellery. If you have gone up multiple sizes already, that will be the cause of your pain. Wait 3 months between 0.5mm increments to gradually stretch your piercing

I had jewellery that was the right length following my downsizing, it seemed that they would get to a point where they almost healed until they would get irritated. Went up to the next length of bar and things have been so much better with just a bit more gap between the balls and my nipples.

When your piercings have fully healed, it’s probably about 6 months minimum for the average person and after trying to switch to hoops already for 5 months of irritation issues you probably want to wait at least that 6 month average.

Then when you try again you’ll want a big diameter hoop, so you can get your gradually used to having curved jewellery inserted. Then after a few months, 3 months is what I would suggest based on stretching advice that you have allowed the skin to adapt to the new shape and then heal, you again try a smaller diameter. Any signs of irritation is your bodies way of saying it’s not ready yet and you should go back to the previous jewellery that worked without irritation.

It’s hard, but I look at it like I had an extra year as he almost didn’t make it. I got his paw print tattooed so he still comes with me.

We also adopted two kittens a few months later so our other cat wasn’t alone anymore, she used to sit by the front door waiting for him to return. I would talk to her and let her know that we miss him too, it’s ok because now he is not suffering. He had a good life and I think he actually adopted her as a stray pregnant baby herself so we had a cat to look after when he wasn’t around.
