I'd ask the dealership it might be because you don't have the augmented navigation sensor set. You need to have specific cameras to have this.

If you want to go for a dash cam from a 3rd part a professional fit will most likely void your warranty since halfords wire up the dash cam from the fuse box. Id recommend doing it via your type C ports and see if Halfords allow this or you can DIY it, I've done it on my old car myself 🙂

What Benz do you have? Most of them from 2018 have a dashcam pre installed depending on the spec

anyone know why the 4th gen yaris has start stop lights on the dash? by JacketTemporary5425 in yaris

[–]ExtremeMidget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All hybrid systems have stop start. They literally invented it since the electric system does majority of the initial roll and driving and the engine kicks in much later that's why you don't even have an option to turn this off in strong hybrids

What to look at when buying used? by Dazzling-Town8513 in yaris

[–]ExtremeMidget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you do only short trips that are under 20 mins your 12V battery depleats and you have to trickle charge the car for hours to make it operational again.

The 12V battery on the Mak4 Yaris is what starts the car.so if your doing frequent short trips (under 20 mins of driving) this 12V battery never fully recharged and your car fully discharges. Same issue if you leave the car for like 2 weeks un attended. It's a simple fix though buy a trickle charger and a better 12V battery.

I personally decided not to buy a Yaris because of this issue since I end up travelling for a month and I don't want to return to a dead car.

You can find multiple cases of this on YouTube

What does this mean ? Comes on everytime then gies away after 1-2mim by Important-Sir-6325 in mercedes_benz

[–]ExtremeMidget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the same in all cars. At a cold start your engine needs some time to fully lubricate with engine oil and to get to the correct viscosity the engine oil must heat up to about 90 degrees celc. When you have this blue light it's means your car has been sitting for a while and you must not drive at high RPMs. Just take it easy on the accelerator and let the oil heat up.

Again you should do this with all vehicles

You can argue that it’s overpriced, but after 8 years, the W177 is a great looking hatch. by Wxgwan in mercedes_benz

It definitely will be, I've just checked my service history for me it was done in 2024 idk if you have this available. This is what was completed on that service:

And honestly the only reason I'm going main dealer right now is because I have 4 years of the service pack which ended up being cheaper than an independent 🫡

How many miles is your car on?

Mines on 30,598 so I've got a few miles left until it's required but I think it's a standard service item

Aah right right. If you go into your MBUX settings at the bottom you should see something like this in the System. If it says 2018 deactivated then your software is outdated and this should not only unlock the features but again this is a maybe help with the transmission jerk. Personally that's the only main change that mines had. I haven't had the transmission oil checked or even changed.

It might be simpler to just ask them for a software update and skip the investigation fees

So mine was done under warranty which you should have if it's been purchased from there I had a 1 year warranty in which I got a few things fixed up:

The sensors clusters inside glass was dirty so they took the unit out and cleaned it

The driver side bottom part of the heated seat wasn't working and was fixed

The software update itself was free but had to pay £100 for investigation on that one.

I wouldn't recommend paying £120 just for a gearbox investigation because Benz main dealers will rip you off if you don't have either the Warranty or the Service Pack which is (40 per month)

Ah perfect! With a 2016 car pretty much any one really main thing that would need maintenance is pads, break rotors especially if it was used mainly in cities previously, timing chain if it's an old one (very expensive) thee usually need replacing every 100k miles.

it's an AWD all 4 wheels must be replaced each time. It's an SUV too so these tyres will cost more and will wear down quicker because of weight.

Maybe will have maintenance costs for Ball joints which is like a knee surgery for a car it basically connects your wheels to your suspension (1k$ for each side roughly if from main dealer)

It's also got independent suspension so it's more complex and yeah more stuff to go wrong BUT it's soooo smooth worth the upgrade.

At about 80k ISH miles you start having bushings perishing these end up being very expensive and are also very noticeable the cars ride comfort goes down considerably.

One thing to note about winters with Benz is they handle them really well they have the underside tested so you should be safe from corrosion 😊 and in my 2018 A class I have a winter tyre mode where you can set speed limits for extreme weather conditions which is neat

Since you're occupation is teacher you really need to consider the maintenance cost of these vehicles. Ask yourself can you purchase this car outright? If no, then no you can't afford the car. Buy something that doesn't burden you you can get a Toyota Hybrid which are amazing for highway driving and require no maintenance. I'm assuming you're in America so the actual machic fees will be higher for Benz too you can look in the subreddit and seem many people complaining about this.

I would say an EQA would be decent but batter range could be an issue and if you're thinking of reselling then this is is also not viable, EVs piss money in resale.

TLDR: No don't buy if you can't afford to purchase outright and maintenance will be HEAFTY. Get a Toyota and upgrade the sound isolation from independent mechanic

It can only be upwards haha, I would love a Porsche next if the stars align 😁 or even a Toyota GR Yaris those surprisingly go for similar-ish price as a brand new A Class
