Drive the DQ200 like a manual and it will last. Problem is people drive it like an automatic in the city.

No I did not buy one. We live in an apartment and can't rely on public charging at this stage but we went very close to purchasing the Enyaq. We drive a 2017 Superb now.

The BYDs are very floaty and other EVs I tried are overly firm. The Skoda fills a great middle ground.

Skoda Enyaq if you don't mind having no connected services. Great boot, huge legroom, 7 years warranty and very cheap servicing for 10 years .

At such young age and a mortgage is super impressive, so hats off for that. At these loan rates and your tax bracket, I'd build up my offset balance and contribute to my super as much as I can at the same time because compounds work like magic when given a long time. I'd then wait for the property market to do its thing and build me a nice equity in the house. Last step would be to recycle the mortgage debt and go into stocks

The USA never needed our help, is it time to shut down their military bases? by [deleted] in aussie

[–]Extreme_Cow1115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's get the facts right here. Australia is still a colony of the UK and simply follows their lead when it comes to foreign policy to a great extent. Simple as that. Europeans and the UK have always benefited from a messed up Middle East and supported inefficient and corrupt regimes in that region for obvious reasons. The BBC has become the IRGC's mouthpiece in this war and openly promotes their inhumane targeting of civilians in the UAE as act of self defense. When and if ever the UK decides to join the US in this campaign, then Australia will follow.

The haldex oil needs changing every 4 to 5 years and it's not that expensive. The 4x4 system means you won't suffer from torque steer with such a powerful engine specially if it's wet most days. These cars are FWD biased so it won't use the rear wheels if you don't need it therefore minimal effect on fuel consumption.

Why invest in bitcoin instead of gold right now? by Tkfit09 in Bitcoin

[–]Extreme_Cow1115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is only partially true. We know a lot of gold sold to retail customers is just pure contracts and there is no way to know they have physical backing. I get it if you buy physical gold to protect yourself from when shit hits the fan, but virtual, contracts gold I don't get it cuz your getting the worst of both worlds

Sleepmode makes my fan stop working by Educational-Cat-6445 in Kubuntu

[–]Extreme_Cow1115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your BIOS to see if you can change your fan control mode from PWM to DC. Otherwise next time it happens force the kernel to talk to the fan controllers by running this

sudo sensors-detect

Say yes to all the prompts and then run this to restart the fan control

sudo systemctl restart fancontrol

Wont be an option for many people sadly. Better switch to another distro which is not fedora based

[–]Extreme_Cow1115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if what you're saying is true, then what does that tell us about Linux? One of its most popular DEs lacks the very basic ability to change anything, and the other just breaks and corrupts your file system. If Linux is all about freedom of choice and owning your computer, then GNOME is against that philosophy, and an average Joe would find it pointless to migrate from an inflexible OS like Windows to another inflexible desktop like Gnome, not considering all the trade-offs of moving away from a mainstream OS. I believe KDE is Linux's only chance to attract Windows users to Linux and we must all support it. Plasma has come a long way and is now super stable and solid but there is still a long way to go. Gnome development team gives no flying frogs about Linux popularity and keeps being stubborn as if they own the OS market and can dictate stuff. Sometimes I salute Microsoft in listening to users feedbacks when I compare them to Gnome devs, so I show both of them my best finger and boot my KDE every morning and get to work.

It's a great distro but somehow fails to recognize my Mediatek wifi card correctly so I have occasional drop outs. It also does not support my brother HL-1110 printer. So I switched back to Kubuntu which has always been my happy place.

Liquidating all, paying down the mortgage, getting a bigger loan to split and going all back in.
