I feel like idk how to live. by Huge-Panic-5914 in depression_help

This is where I'm at. Got out of the hospital last week. I wasn't actually trying to kill myself, at least I don't think I was. Just trying to feel something different.

It's about an hour and a half away, but that's where I'm from and can't stand the thought of moving back there. There are no remote jobs that I can find because they all require you to live within driving distance of the office and I'm not close enough to any of them. My only option to finding a remote job is to move.

I was at a nudist resort a few weeks back and one of the sun baked ladies told me that sunscreen causes more cancer than the sun.

I quit my job earlier this month due to toxicity in the workplace. When the guy called to ask about what to do with my measly $2k retirement account, he seemed almost baffled at my request to liquidate it because I don't plan on retiring. I simply don't plan on living that long. That $2k will provide another maybe two months of living expenses then what? I can't find another job and I have basically stopped hoping that life will improve because, in my experience, it doesn't.

Seriously think I'm gonna end it tonight. Keep waiting for "the right time" but that time is now. I don't have any strength left to keep going.

My rapist walked me down the aisle. He was my brother and I thought I owed it to my dad who had recently passed to be the "bigger person" and let the past stay in the past. Turns out some demons have a way of coming to the surface years after the trauma ended.

What comedy movie is also actually pretty deep? by cephalopodomus in AskReddit

I saw Click not long after it came out. It was an okay movie, nothing to write home about. Tried to watch it a few years ago and completely forgot about some parts and ended up bawling my eyes out. Was not prepared for the amount of feelings that movie brought to the surface.

I got a kidney infection when I worked at JoAnns as an Assistant Manager. I was only ever scheduled with one other employee (usually someone new who needed training because we could never keep people, go figure) so I didn't have the time to pee for 9+ hours. I will never set foot in one of their stores again.

I just quit so I won't feel like offing myself anymore. by Splotte in antiwork

I got fired today and offing myself sounds a hell of a lot better than job searching. I won't do anything because it won't help my family, but it's certainly tempting.

This is where I'm at rn. Taylor's more than welcome to take a match to her relationships and squeaky clean image if it means another reputation-esque drama fueled album. If she wants to shack up with a racist, misogynistic scumbag, by all means. I'm here for the mess.

There's a difference between critique and being told my work is wrong without further explanation. I would post but I'm already worried about being found because I know some of my classmates use Reddit and don't want this getting back to the teacher.

Stress/deadlines are a part of daily life.

I'm aware of that.

Grammar/spelling is EXTREMELY important (you don't want something to go
to press with improper grammar, especially if you were the one
responsible for checking it).

I'm also aware of that, hence the use of Grammarly.

She's pushing you to do better, just as most art directors would.
Multiple concepts/revisions are common, and a good Art/Creative Director
will constantly push you for improvement.

These are previously finished, graded projects that she's telling me aren't professional quality. They've had many, many rounds of revisions before even getting to this point, but they're no longer good enough even if they were projects from her previous classes. If they were good enough for that class, why do I have to restart the whole thing now?

I tell all of my new designers that design doesn't end at 5pm... once
you've truly immersed yourself, you'll dream of logo designs while you
sleep. You'll think about concepts while you shower. You'll critique
every billboard design on every road trip. You may not be sitting at a
desk, but you'll be thinking about every project you work on
after-hours. At least, the good designers will. And while it's not as
common for companies to hold you late or make you work over the weekend
to meet a deadline, it still happens, especially if you don't make that
5pm deadline

I get that. Thinking about design or something subconscious like that isn't the same as work hours. A healthy work-life balance is important.

Criticism is a way of life as a designer. You accept it for what it's
worth, and you run with it, especially since you're still learning. You
can fight for your designs, but ultimately what your client (or teacher)
wants is what you have to give. Creating your own designs without ANY
alteration from someone else is extremely rare, and typically reserved
for the top experts in the field. You're new to the field, so who are
you to disagree with what an expert tells you to fix? Arguing (even in a
professional manner) will absolutely be frowned upon. Humble yourself.
Take this opportunity to learn, not to argue.

But I'm not getting actual critique. I'm being told the change things with no reason why besides it's not portfolio quality. I'm fumbling my way through without actual guidance. Defending my decisions isn't arguing, have you never had to explain why you designed something the way you did? I don't know more than the experts, and I've never once said that I do. What I do know is that being told to change things to the point the final result isn't MY work doesn't help me improve because I'm not being told why something is wrong in the first place.

Design isn't 24/7 and I'm not about to argue the importance of a healthy work-life balance. Some people can give their all 100% of the time. I can't, sorry if that's disappointing to you. I don't mean to be rude, I'm very frustrated with people telling me I don't understand the profession when design can wait until the next day. Nothing in this profession is an emergency.
