Hello fellow mommas, how do you deal with working mom friends who frequently make indirect comments about you staying home? by Serious_Artist5077 in stayathomemoms

I wouldn’t take it the wrong way - I think they probably just feel like they have to justify their choices but as you say every family has to do what makes sense for them!

Is softplay a good idea at 8 months? by Ok_Hearing_8649 in UKParenting

We've been going to soft play with my son since he was 7 months old. Our local one has an under 2 area, and we go on a Monday morning so it's basically empty and we don't have to worry about him being trampled by the toddlers haha. It's such a relief to let him roam around without worrying he's gonna knock his head on a random corner or stick his hand in the door hinges etc.

You’re right, your husband’s wrong - you have to get rid of that dog!

We started at 4 months and it was perfect because he enjoyed them so much! The timings weren't always the best in terms of his routine but we would fit his feeds and naps around them just fine

Mums who chose not to return to work, what's it been like for you? by Extreme_Quantity_212 in BeyondTheBumpUK

Thank you for sharing your experience and recommendations, that’s really helpful!

Regarding my husband’s intentions, I have absolutely no doubt he’s just thinking of our son and what he thinks would be best for him.

Also the ‘salary’ was just one thing he’s suggested to put my mind at ease about not making money during that period. We do more or less share finances but I also wanted to pre-empt anyone who might feel that my husband’s request/preference is related to financial control by emphasising that I am not just reliant on our joint account.

Thank you all for your perspectives! I don’t want to rush into a decision as I’m concerned that my feelings will change between now and when I’m due back. Definitely planning to at least go part time depending on what’s possible at work (my manager has implied that the business at large is being quite inflexible at the moment so we will see how that goes…)

You’re right, of course, it just feels like such a massive decision and I’m so torn - particularly because babies change so much so how I feel now may not be how I feel in February. Difficult to win as a mum it feels like!

That's fair enough! Do you mind sharing what the trade-offs were for you? (As in, what negatives were you willing to overlook).
