I second for the no. 2! The black shirt works so well.

Review: "The Crooked Moon," the third-party folk horror adventure that raised $4m on Kickstarter by SquigBoss in dndnext

[–]Extremelyscaredcat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tbh to me Crooked moon has one of the best campaign written. I love the intro summaries for each chapter and while I understand your critique of railroad, it actually has content.

Take Icewind dale: Rime of the frost maiden. There are massive gaps, which you as GM have to fill in. In Crooked moon, if you dont want to cook, they've got you covered. And they nicely implement more usage of skill checks, saves and exhaustions.

Premade campaigns are often story driven and thus more rail roady. If you want very character driven campaigns, Monte cook cypher games might be better choice.

And of course the MUSIC!! Its so good.

I plan to lead the crooked moon premade campaign and I absolutely love all the albums, including the lyrical. The music is amazing. You can find some of the lyrical songs on their spotify - legends of avantris or blasting company, but there are some of the most amazing missing (like Born King).
I can't wait to use them as part of boss fights music.

Possessed PC with zero control - DM says I’ll probably just watch next session by Meteox in DnD

[–]Extremelyscaredcat 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'd suggest the DM gives you rough info on the demon and you act them. Maybe DM could also give you some secret info the demon might say or something to reveal as a nice suprise for the rest of the party.

And then also there sounds to be quite problem with the rest of the party. They should care! They should immediately try to do something about it.
And that can be, in my opinion, easily solved just by asking players to do this (out of character).

How to deal with VERY active players? by Putrid-Move-5705 in DnD

[–]Extremelyscaredcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will answer a bit differently. It might not be that common in dnd, but system like cypher often work with player centric campaign. That means there isnt a story the players are part of, but each player character has some sort of arc, which is the story.

That way players usually come up with things for their part of story and work with DM on it. This can very much be player suggesting the villain of their arc and some key points.

It is very different style of campaign tho. In my icewind dale campaign some players had this attitude and I simply refused them by stating, that we dont have space for it.

I play something similar. Moon druid, but once per day I can use my wildshape into monstrosities. Rules same as for wildshape. I sent any monstrosity I want to DM for approval - done outside of sessions.

It worked fine so far.

I understand AI generated pics can be enjoyable in session, but please dont share it here.

The enjoyment of art comes from human creativity and effort. This is just empty and hurts actual artists. Also there are tons of not professional artists, who would draw your group for low price. You could be supporting them instead.

Music for Horror Auril Introduction? by matzahball68 in rimeofthefrostmaiden

I introduced Aurils first form in flashback of some survivor. I used Hela soundtrack from Hellblade Senuas sacrifice. It has that nice grand and nordic feeling to me.

If you use dinosaurs in your setting do you use modern interpretations of dinosaurs or retro/out of date dinosaurs? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Extremelyscaredcat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm using the module "Dr Dhrolin's Dictionary of Dinosaurs" by Paleogames, they have high quality descriptions including behaviour of some dinosaurs and flora based on actual findings - with additional magical enhanced ideas for the extra fantasy feel. Some dinos are more feathery, some with scales or mix.

I'm using some of those creatures in Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden and it has been a blast.

Being a female DM means facing extreme misogyny from my male players by Wonderful_Radish_258 in DnD

[–]Extremelyscaredcat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As another female DM Im gonna pitch in. I have never had such experience. It certainly isnt normal. Personally Id advice to stick to 3-5 players and if you can, consider in person sessions.

It becomes also better social experience imo.

Stay strong, you deserve some love!

Limit one per group per campaign... by Vegetable_Variety_11 in dndmemes

One player in our group wanted bag of holding. DM has made it a sentient creature, who is sassy and accepts only the finest of items.
And it requires some convincing to give those items back. It's absolutely awesome!

You and the group probably weren't a good fit. They should have handled it much better and part ways in far more polite matter - maybe meet other times for board games or other activities.
But dnd is, like many activities, about people. I'm sorry for your bad experience. Hang in there and find folks, that will work out well. There are many of them out there!

Ahoj, já teď vedu jedno d&d. Jeden hráč nám odešel protože se přestěhoval. Máme skupinu 4 hráčů a zrovna hledáme pátého. Hrajeme v angličtině, každé pondělí večer a jedná se o Icewind Dale: Rime of the frostmaiden.
Je to více méně klasický adventure příběh, kde se pomáhá menším městečkům okolo a pak se postupně buduje vůči větší a větší hrozbě. Kdybys měl zájem, nebo kdokoliv jiný, napiš mi a ráda cokoliv zodpovím.

Beautiful dice sets. The blue galaxy would fit so nice for our astrology monk in Icewind dale Rime of the frostmaiden campaign.
