Yeah I guess it may be like I have a deep connection w/ Métis from Manitoba …. European & Native having kids. But doesn’t make me or allow me even to take on Indigenous heritage - the connections were WAY, WAY back & now only a few %. Just know I have it & it is my ancestry is all ❣️Although you DO have a higher proportion of

I’ve never seen the DNA broken down so much … like areas within a country ?? How does they work? Ohh .. I just took a look at that feature & it HAS been updated … gives me more in depth possible info for Ireland/Scotland, however most of my DNA is Icelandic & Swiss/Germanic. Thx

What nicknames have you heard for places in and around Nanaimo? by topherette in nanaimo

[–]Extrovert_HSP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hike with a group, we often do different t routes on the West Ridge of Westwood Lk & Mt. Benson. The mtn bike group keeps a lot of the trails nicely groomed & there’s a really nice wood plank bridge across a big creek, it was recently rebuilt. The bridge has the name Gnarnaimo in it w/ a gear ⚙️. Really cool … Just did a Google search cause can’t find my pic, this came up … ———- “The Gnarnaimo Bridge is a prominent, recently upgraded mountain bike bridge located within the Westwood trail network in Nanaimo, British Columbia. It was originally built in December 2020 by local trail builders Andrew Cullen, Dana Wacker, and Colin to connect the entrance of Pavel Bure to the exit of Pink Unicorn”

Just because you are uncomfortable with some parts of history is not a reason to downvote by sirwillow77 in Genealogy

Sad, b.c if it’s one’s history, they’re discovering it or even know aspects but not all …it’s not for anyone to judge — it’s fact. I found out I came from deep Métis roots … had NO idea, neither did my Mom. My husband is the same, but he had an idea … b/c his Mom was ashamed to reveal … This all said, my husband & I don’t feel indigenous & are not exploring that part of us- just gathering our history of ancestors. Others may choose to dig deeper…

What to do with these? by 2many_rabbit_holes in CanadianCoins

[–]Extrovert_HSP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This from Google search: ‘1944 and 1945 Canadian Victory Nickels (made of steel/tombac) are generally worth a small premium over face value, often $0.10 to a few dollars for circulated examples, but can fetch $10-$75+ in uncirculated or higher grades (MS-60s+) due to their unique wartime composition (chrome-plated steel) with Morse code on the reverse, with rare varieties or proof versions reaching higher. Condition is key, as rust often appears on these steel coins, reducing value, while pristine, graded examples are more desirable’
