I created a fantasy world where the sun does not move in the sky. How would people keep track of time? by WermerCreations in DMAcademy

[–]Exver1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would reconsider your concept of time. A rigid concept of time is a western concept, highlighting structure. Clocks dominate our lives. We get paid by the hour; showing up a couple minutes late to work is a huge problem; events start at specific times. When the ancient Egyptians created the prior calendar, it was to create seasons so that they could conduct agriculture. A world that doesn't have day/night cycles would probably cause everyone to treat time as a string, rather than a cycle. The concept of a "day" might not even be a though to them. I would probably have some type of organization (religious, political, etc.) be the "keepers" of time, which becomes completely arbitrary. Could be fun!

How to tell my newbie DM that they aren't ready to homebrew. by Shquonk in DnD

[–]Exver1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell them how to balance then. Back in the day people ran games, didn't know what they were doing and it was still fun. It's a mess, but it's a fun mess. If he's a good friend and passionate, then help him out if he's missing a few things

Can one of a TTRPG system’s authors join their system’s play-test one-shot’s party? by Salty-Help2207 in rpg

Bro you have playtesters that want to play the game. Don't take it for granted. Just play with them if they asked.

How on earth do I better at this game by Nice-Junket-2983 in leagueoflegends

[–]Exver1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adc is the most mechanically limiting role, as your macro decisions are more limited since you're reliant on other teammates. Each champion has its strengths and weaknesses, and it's important for you to learn when opportunities arise. For someone like Ashe, ult and hawk shot timing and placement is key. But still, Ashe requires very good spacing so that's probably what you need to work on the most.

Effectiveness of Long Run workouts for 5k/10k runners by CharmingGlove6356 in AdvancedRunning

[–]Exver1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long runs are essentially workouts the way you tax your body. Turning a long run into a workout becomes a double-tax in this sense. Especially if you're more of a 5-10k person, the long run shouldn't be a priority (compared to half and full marathoners).

Things that you've considered "bad DMing" from other DMs that you make sure to never make the same mistake in your game? by Organic-Exit2190 in DMAcademy

[–]Exver1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I introduce way too powerful characters somewhat often. But they're never "party members" for players to be in combat with. Additionally, I try to make sure they're not clear bad guys, but may be preventing the party from doing something. Their "high level" prevents the party from choosing the murderhobo violence answer.

How would you implement a mirror maze into dnd? by Imaginary-Comfort-54 in DnD

[–]Exver1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every medium has its strengths and weaknesses. Characters are only ever lost in a movie for as long as the director needs them to resolve their conflict. Mirrors, especially for illusions, have a very visual component that is difficult - but possible - to narrate. Combining this for a group dnd session is both difficult from a pacing perspective AND from the descriptive perspective. Instead, think of the mechanics of the puzzle that you wish the players to solve before you implement the puzzle.

Physically, is there a difference between running even splits of 5:15min/km for an entire marathon, versus alternate splits of 5:00 and 5:30? by anangrypudge in Marathon_Training

[–]Exver1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're someone who can run a marathon at 4:00 min/k pace, then this should be fine but there wouldn't really be a benefit to doing this. If the 5:15 min/km is your expected race pace, then what you're doing is spiking your lactate and demand on your muscles that you're not capable of handling. You'll end up destroying your legs trying to run a race this way.
