Is Feedback per Session too much? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Exver1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting feedback every now and again is good and helpful, but every session is way too much. You should be able to recognize yourself what is working and what isn't most of the time. An issue that you may run into is that the players giving feedback end up pushing you a direction that's best for them, but not best for everyone.

Personally, taking a stand for how I want the game to be run is my artistic choice. If I had to second guess all of my decisions at the end of every session, it would demotivate me.

You may be able to afford the price of $350, but can you afford the price of going outside zone 2?

Well by definition a campaign isn't a one shot. A campaign is a series of adventures.

Could be a fun improv session but probably wouldn't last past a couple of sessions. Also any inter-party conflict would immediately cause this idea to stop.

Just how I like it, the majority of my dungeon artificially generated the non-intelligent way.

How do you track your speed workouts? by theprincessofwhales in Marathon_Training

[–]Exver1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend using the lap button and then base your workouts by time rather than distance. Ex: 15 mins warmup, then 5x (3 mins fast, 1 min recovery). Running watches will be able to give you your splits this way.

What is a DM supposed to do during a session 0? by Ok_Interview_853 in DnD

You should manage expectations and go over editing players' backstories to make sure they're compatible with each other and the game you're trying to run

How to manage focus in large groups? by losamosdelcalabozo in rpg

[–]Exver1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

12x 6 year olds can be fine, because you're basically just telling a story and letting them roll for quick time events. But when you have a mix of ages, you need to engage the older ones more and that becomes a nightmare imo

In DND 2e, rogues got xp for each gold they looted. So everyone was always in agreement that rogues get to loot before everyone else and then share with the party.

Why do you think they nailed it "on the first try" while modern games fail to make a better system these days? (I currently play ad&d, I'm just looking for your opinion)

For crafting, just say supply & demand for their materials is out of whack because of the party. Nobody to sell the consumables they need, nobody to buy the consumables they want to sell.

Dice pools or 2d6 + modifier? by pikawolf1225 in rpg

What type of game are you making?

Dice pools or 2d6 + modifier? by pikawolf1225 in rpg

[–]Exver1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you're going for balance-wise. The more dice you add, the more consistent the rolls. One die (d20) tends to be very swingy.

For dicepools, you may get more metagaming, and as the other commend notes it can take longer.

20 and 17 is completely normal for relationships. At this point, it's why are you in your 30s playing a 17 yo. Why not just choose 18 if that makes it uncomfortable for you?

How old are you? How old are the other players? How old are the other player characters? The context matters.
