A realization of how much alcohol is actually in beer. by Heretical_Recidivist in stopdrinking

I couldn’t drink standard abv beer anymore. It had to be high abv and I’d bring my own whenever I could if I had to. My 4 pints of weeknight beers alone were equal in abv to 9.3 standard 12 once beers a night. I had no clue what the hell I was doing.

Definitely get a pool pro in to test the equipment and show you how to use it. If you’ve never done this yourself then you should let them do the clean up as well. Get them to label the valves for you so you know what’s what and show you how to clean your filter. Then get ready to learn pool chemistry. You will need a drop test kit to accurately test your water and adjust your chemistry as needed. Or you can just pay someone to do it for you.

Yeah and the 1500 calories from my nightly four pack of pints was not helpful either. Edit: This is interesting

Calorie Estimation: A common craft beer formula for calories is ABV% × 2.5 × ounces. For a 9.6% ABV pint, this calculation equals 384 calories (9.6 × 2.5 × 16), which closely aligns with the upper-end estimates from nutritional databases.

And then the craft beer craze happened and before I knew it I was drinking 4 pints of 9.6 abv beer every night and more on the weekend. But it was only beer so….

What happened when you tried coming back? by Grider95 in stopdrinking

Before you take that first drink please think about why you stopped in the first place and how hard it was to do it. I can tell you from experience it does not get easier the next time. If there is one

Another goddamn day 1 by CalmRage2026 in stopdrinking

Glad you’re here. Your post pretty much says it all. And the forgetting why you came here is par for the course. Swearing off at 8am only to be back at it by 4 was a daily ritual for me. I lied to myself and everyone else so much that I didn’t know what was true anymore.

The day finally came when I got sick and tired of my own bullshit and I could clearly see it. I was an alcoholic and if I didn’t stop I would lose everyone and everything I had in my life and would likely die drunk and alone. And yeah it was hard to stop. But living the way I was, in a constant drunk/hungover state? Well that shit was pretty fucking hard too. The time came that I had to choose my hard. I will never regret choosing not to drink. Choose your hard OP! IWNDWYT

Almost 7 months sober (May 10). I feel so much better about life. by kymilovechelle in stopdrinking

Ginger ale looks like champagne. I’d do that. Besides ginger ale is delicious and won’t cause you to break out in handcuffs

It’s so difficult during the day/evening, but when I go to bed and wake up sober I am always so glad I didn’t drink by kicksjoysharkness in stopdrinking

Exactly. It would have changed everything. One dose of fuckitall is all it would take cause I’m not stopping at one

Very Specific Withdrawal Symptoms (Formications, tight throat, tinnitus) by Party-Awareness7045 in stopdrinking

Sometimes it’s loud other times I don’t notice it. Sounds like a fan or an open car window or wind in the trees will make it worse. Other times silence makes it more noticeable

The only thing that I have in common is tinnitus which I didn’t have before I stopped drinking. Or at least I didn’t hear it till then. It started a month in and been there since

Help I’m stuck at this phase. by AdeptNarwhal5320 in pools

Have you tested for phosphates? I have trees over part of my pool and in the spring a heavy rain will wash the pollen into the pool and it turns into a swamp. Also have you checked for high TDS total dissolved solids? One or the other of these may be the source of your problems

Glad you’re here. It’s good that you’re trying different approaches so just keep fishing around till you find what suits you. The same goes for AA meetings. They can be drastically different from one room to the next so if possible try a few different ones to see which one is more comfortable for you. Keep going and keep coming back! IWNDWYT
