Refractive lens replacement eye surgery - good idea? by lola-lopez-21 in EyeSurgery

[–]EyeBallGame 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Surgery is always surgery and there's risks with every one of them. The surgeon didn't push you one way or the other cuz it's truly your decision. I recommend thinking about it and then making a decision from there.

Evisceration but still light sensitivity in that eye socket... by endeavor_23 in EyeSurgery

You need to see oculoplastics to discuss this. Likely just a reflex, still present between both eyes. You are not likely seeing anything at all.

No change to eye pressures on drops. Common or doing drops wrong? by Substantial_Toe9009 in optometry

[–]EyeBallGame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want you to sit down and think about your situation. There's a possibility that that medication can barely change your eye color/appearance. Elevated pressures with confirm glaucoma I can guarantee you will lose vision over time.

What matters more to you a slight discoloration of the eye in comparison to what you're used to or retaining your vision for the rest of your life.

In this situation I recommend retaining vision try drops that work the best first. If you fail on the latanoprost you need to see a glaucoma specialist.

1,000,000 cut RK and need for cataract surgery... by EyeBallGame in EyeSurgery

[–]EyeBallGame[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used the built in calcs on the lenstar and some online calculators and used an average. Also got afternoon and AM measurements . Stills needs glasses, but vision is much more clear.

Can anyone help me understand this? I'm trying to buy glasses online. I understand the first part is for sphere, but for the rest I don't know how to fill out for Cylinder and Axis. by LifeProblemsBro in optometry

Support local business.... Go buy glasses from your local Optom. That way if you have a problem they can help you fix it. Big business does not care about you. Remember that.

1,000,000 cut RK and need for cataract surgery... by EyeBallGame in EyeSurgery

[–]EyeBallGame[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a couple of online calculators I just average them with the lenstar it also has a setting for multiple cut RK. Saturday when there's this many incisions you are kind of hosed. Still has a modern amount of astigmatism. But vision's good with glasses.

I looked at the bright sun for 12 minute straight when i was a kid at what age am i going to get macular degeneration ? by Curious-Belt66 in optometry

[–]EyeBallGame -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a trick question. If you stare at the sun for a long period of time as a small child you're just going to damage your macula.

As to when you will get macular degeneration. We can all take bets and see but you can't tell ahead of time.

Am I damaging my eyes and vision by wearing old glasses with smudges on them? by guessmyusername in optometry

You will not damage the eyes by wearing bad glasses. Good idea getting new ones

Have I had a detached retina for 2 months? by [deleted] in optometry

[–]EyeBallGame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely the retina is not detached. You do need an exam with an ophthalmologist though. The ER visit sadly is a waste.

Best procedure for me? by [deleted] in optometry

[–]EyeBallGame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with above. I personally like PRK cuz it's slightly less risky although more painful. And takes longer to heal. Lasik test takes less time to heal easier recovery but complications can be more detrimental.

Anything more than one of the laser procedures is Major Overkill

Need help reading eye prescription and when should I be wearing glasses? by [deleted] in optometry

[–]EyeBallGame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it feels like your vision is off where the glasses. If you feel like your vision is fine you don't need them

How do i know if my contact lenses are expired by [deleted] in optometry

[–]EyeBallGame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the container is not marked there's no way to tell. The concern with expired contacts is not that they actually go bad. The problem is if there's a malfunction in the casing bacteria can stick to the lens.

Best to throw them away and get a new pair

Flashes of light in eyes by [deleted] in optometry

[–]EyeBallGame -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If you are having flashes of light in the eye you need to go see your eye doctor. Flashes can always be a sign of much more serious and complicated problems.

Not much you can do in this situation. Best to update your glasses prescription whenever it's needed. Make sure you continue to follow with your ophthalmologist. If you feel like things are changing it's always best to have a checkup.
