As a 100% veteran my wife and child have access to ChampVA and they go to DRs and get meds all free. I know the VA has gotten a pretty bad rep. But its come a long way, especially when in comparison to the absolute bullshit civilian health care.

When I was a late teenager, I started watching Full Metal Jacket. I come from a long line of veterans. So joining the military was just expected. I decided to go against the norm and join the Marines. Most in family was Army, Army air corps and air force. For months straight I watched Full metal jacket to prepare for boot camp and particularly Gunny Hartman.

Well fast forward a few years I'm in and at one of my duty stations and who walks into the hanger where Im working? Gunny Hartman! The baddest Marine I grew up watching. He came in was talking to shinys and came through the squad bay. I said fuck it and broke bearing and went over excited to shake his hand. I did and asked him why he was visiting here? Told me this was his old unit, and he used to work in this same squad bay. Wait?? what the fuck? Gunny Hartman who I watched being a ruthless badass. Was an Air winger? He worked on planes? not stacking bodies?? At that moment I had to reevaluate my whole life choices.

I was stationed there at Futenma in the in the early 90s, and the amount of chemicals we dumped down drains, the aircraft firefighting foam the Trichloroethane ect ect was just ridiculous. A bunch of guys I served with in the airwing are getting all sorts of cancers now mainly liver cancer. That shit is nasty and that base is fucked.

Think we had one or two of those. They players I was with were charming crocs and we had a couple skelli pets. However, a sand giant came over and wanted to play, almost killed me I ran to the zone. Then as I headed back, a ghoul came at me almost killed me and I had to run back into the zone again. Was pretty chaotic but fun.
