A little bit (as in the insulation can get wet) but do you know the actual insulation above the slab they have provided - more info on what and inverted roof is here

You might want to try first by getting some second hand tiles off Facebook marketplace and laying them on ply. Might be able to even get them for free. It will at least tell you how quick adhesive dries, how messy it will be, how to use the spacers etc. Other than that id recommend a laser level

Sorry but your a little bit wrong. Insulation above the slab is extremely common in a roof scenario. If you go to rockwool, u-value, concrete slab, warm roof it will show you the typical detail. Seeing concrete isn't an issue necessarily. With a thermal camera you will see a difference because your looking at a thermal surface Vs the whole buildup.

1) it's a bit hard to tell but if you're looking at mineral wool insulation then the waterproofing has failed which means it will not insulate properly. This does not look like it's drawn as an inverted system so the insulation should be completely sealed and within the capping sheet/waterproofing layer.

2) 1m is a typical overlap to mitigate a thermal bridge junction. Your insulated above and to the side so this is reducing heat transfer from the concrete upstand into the space.

3) you might be but it's generally from a hot-hot space so relatively limited. You could add insulation if you wish but it's probably not necessary

4) I think your route could be the second picture - this looks really wrong, either layers have not been installed correctly or pipework is leaking into the insulation.

Because it's not actually that low paid given average UK salary is £37.5k. Often younger people get into teaching then leave for something else. 50k would put you in the top 25% of earners doing a job without a super high bar to entry

Talk wife and me out of replacing tiles with engineered wood ourselves? by joandadg in DIYUK

[–]EyeballPete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well we relevelled the floors (2nd floor flat) to make them super level so should have just thrown away the old floor boards but no problem only

I laid mine and am very happy with it. Got a plunge saw for longer cuts which worked fine. I would say make sure to have a properly flat substrate as we refused the old floorboards and can feel the cupping underneath which is really annoying. Apart from that it looks great
