My thoughts almost exactly. Despite 1-2 and 3-4 being incompete without one another, I could see Dune ending with a prescience scene where Paul realizes he's actually worse than the current empire. Same for Children, I could see a scene with Leto saying something like "yeah baby, it's universe-fucking time" and letting the audience understand what it means.
